Which TV aerial

I’m looking for a good compact TV aerial that will clip on or stick to the ‘van while stationary and remove and store it in the van when moving. The reason being, the van is a small poptop just under 2 metres high and I don’t want to fit a fixed aerial of any description on the roof that adds to the height, plus I do not have much storage room so the aerial would need to be compact. Does anyone use one and have personal experience of a particular model they would recommend.

Hi, we have a vision plus 420,it comes with 3 sections for the pole.I Just fix one section on to the bike rack with two jubilee clips top and bottom. On site i slot one more section with the ariel on top that is usally good enough but you can slot the third section on iff needed, but i've never found this necessary.

And another vote for the Image 420.

We've had one for around 8 or 9 years now and store it in it's box for travel and mount to the cycle rack for use.

We also use a Vision Plus TV signal finder to make setting it up easier...

A small very reasonably priced arial which has a magnetic base is reviewed on a CalaforniaCamping blog video when they review an Aldi 12v/240v TV.

It is the August DTA240 arial and is available on Amazon. I have not personally used this arial yet but I made a note of it for when I pick up my campervan soon.

Hi Baz,

You hand hold it. It's powered by a 9 V battery so you plug the downlead from the aerial into it then rotate the aerial until you get the maximum number of LED's illuminated. If they stay at max for a while simply aim midway between the points where one LED goes out.

I also use this website before we go away to check for Vertical or Horizontal polarisation of the aerial and a compass bearing from the site and then start with a Sylva orienteering compass to get a rough idea of direction.

And because the aerial has locking buttons between the sections if you leave the lower part fixed to your MH then the aerial simply slots back in and is already aligned if you return to the same pitch!
