Welcome to the Out&AboutLive forums, Andy.

Truma have never made a “400” appliance, but - as you’ve said that the unit removed from a caravan can heat water and hot air water - what you have should be either one of the Truma Trumatic “C” models (that ceased being produced in 2007) or a Truma “Combi”.

Photos of Trumatic “C” appliances are shown here

and photos of “Combi” heaters are here

Truma’s Installation and Operating Instructions for those appliances can be downloaded from the above links.

For any useful forum feedback you’d need to confirm which model of heater you have and (as Keith says) provide more details of the problem.

If you are saying that, when the van is connected to a 230V mains power-supply a fault occurs when the heater is switched on, the problem might lie with the heater itself (eg. there’s a fault with its electronics) or perhaps with the cabling that connects the heater to the 230V supply.

Hopefully the problem is minor and easy to fix, but these heaters are complex (particularly the “Combi”) and trouble-shooting can be challenging.
