Back then democratically elected Sinn Fein MPs could not take their seats in the Commons without swearing allegiance to Her Unelected Majesty the Queen, Thatcher threatened severe legal action against the media if they reported what Sinn Fein said. Thatcher also said 'we don't negotiate with terrorists' and a few years later Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness were in 10 Downing Street every other day.
