Thats how the Financial Times Martin Woolf describes Britain

A sort of Socialism for the Rich

So it isn't just Left Wing extremists Caricatured by tye Daily Mail that don't agree with the way things ae going.

Free Enterprise Capitalists like myself don't agree with it either

What about letting properties rent free like your empty one ???

Never paid rent in my life.

Never been paid rent in my life :-D

Is that your real answer???

Its only empty when I'm away in my van

That's better princess ... You said you were hardly ever there ... Can't believe your so concerned supposedly about the homeless and have an empty property most of the year... It's more than a tad hypocritical ... You can do it rent free given your shares are doing so well

I'm not a saint.

If I'd had the chance to buy a Council House for a quarter of its value I'd probably have done so - who wouldn't.

But I still think its a bad policy - attack the system not the individuals.

I may be selfish but at least I am not selfish enough to oppose new house building like the Nimbys and Landowners in the Tory Partty.

"But I still think it's a bad policy - attack the system not the individuals" = hypocrite

I attack the system, not the individuals who take advantafe of it.

By what Mad Hatter logic does that make me a hypocrite (lol)

Of course your a hypocrite and well you know it ... Don't worry your in good company on here though ... From those who tell us to take in more refugees yet take none in and live miles away from any to those who preach about multiculturalism yet live miles away from the results of it to those who preach about helping the homeless while having an empty property to others who want to do something about wealth distribution and make a fairer society while driving round in motorhomes and splashing ££££s on new motors and some even scream racist at any opportunity they can at other members while they vote for a racist party with an anti-Semite leader ... So don't worry you've plenty of buddies on here

The right to express an opinion on the widening gap between the have and the have nots and to maintain that government policy should change in order to address that gap is not the solely reserve of the poor. I haven’t sought to exclude myself from the prospect that I might be one of those who would lose out if the government introduced measures to narrow the gap so in my book I am not a hypocrite.

BBC2 screened an excellent two part documentary on this subject a couple of years ago about the increasing divide of how those with huge wealth continue to benefit at the expense of the less well off being constantly hit by punitive measures, often dragging many down into a whirlpool mire of debt.

It's no longer available on iPlayer but i found it here and is well worth a watch......particularly interesting hearing what Seattle multi billionaire Nick Hanauer had to say too regarding so called 'trickle down' factor. He does at least recognise the seriousness of the ever increasing wealth gap.

Just watched episode one. Have to summon up the courage to watch episode 2 as there is bound to be more bad news.

Yes it's not pleasant viewing and the world would certainly be a better place if more super-rich thought like Nick Hanauer. The divisions are just beyond belief and the majority of these people live in a permanently insulated bubble, disinterested and preferring to remain in blissful ignorance....."i'm alright jack".

On a similar theme i watched a series called "Rich House Poor House" where families on each side of the divide swapped homes and lifestyles for one week. Initially i thought it might be a bit tacky and another 'benefits bashing' documentary, but it was far from that. We are talking families with disposable incomes of £2 - 3 grand a week!! to families with little more than a £100 a week left over to live off.

There was an update recently on those who'd taken part last year and most have kept in touch with some encouraging outcomes.

Giving more money to benefit scroungers just feeds their sense of entitlement in my experience *-) ..........

So why have the Tories given the Extended Royal Family a benefits increase?

(whilst cutting benefits to the poor)

So it would take Government policy change for you to do something about helping the poorer in our society you claim to care about ??? ... Nice

I obviously don’t give enough to the poor as I have motorhome on the drive and have bought a second-hand car recently. (lol)

I don't know Veronica ... For a start I don't know what in your view would make someone "poor" ... You wanted a fairer society not me yet you admit to being in a privileged minority to own a motorhome and another privileged minority of owning a Mercedes or BMW was it ??? ... If you crave fairness then do something about it and don't wait for Government to change what supposedly upsets you , a bit

I'm not a Socialist like the Tory Party or Labour Party, I believe in Free Enterprise which we only have where it suits those with political influence.

No Free Enterprise in the Housing Crisis for example, where the Tories are restricting supply with planning constraints, whilst stoking up demand with taxpayer funded subsidies like Housing Benefit and their co called 'Help to Buy'

Government intervention in the housing market is the problem, not the solution.

If we have to have Socialism I would prefer Corbyn's Socialism for the Poor than the Tories Socialism for the Rich.

National Debt has increased far more under the Tories, and if we are going to be a basket case economy I would rather see the poor get something out of it than just the super rich 'newspaper' owners domiciled in Her Majesty's Tax Haven's under threat from an EU wide tax treaty - which you keep quoting as an unbiased source *-)

If only you could get your head out of the Daily Mail and look at the facts.......

The crash was in 2008.

Despite all the Austerity for the poor look whats actually happened to the National Debt since then

That national debt increased because Labour never put any money aside, so the UK had to use it's credit card to fund Labour's borrowed money spending spree :-| ........

Dontcha remember that nice note your chancellor left? >:-) ...........

Using your formula, where you measure Britain's 'Growth' by its falling currency, Venezualu is the strongest performing economy in the world with 'Growth' of 8,000% (lol)

Vince Cable who was warning of the impending financial crisis

The Toriies were calling for even more of the deregulation that caused it

from your link : George Osborne, had been a keen advocate of further banking deregulation when the Conservatives were in opposition.

And Her Unelected Majesty was knighting Sir Fred Goodwin for services to banking *-)
