Deffheads
Who does a professional adjustable angled brackets for solar panels, when the sun is low in winter. Any recommendations welcome as I need to fit an extra panel this summer.
Derek Uzzell
Not sure what you mean by a “professional" adjustable angled bracket. A GOOGLE-search using "rv solar panel tilt bracket” as the search-term identifies some tiltable-bracket possibilties and these 2014 and 2017 forum threads discussed the matter https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Adjustable-Solar-Panels/36947/ https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/solar-panel-that-tilts.154292/ Are you thinking of tilting just the extra panel or all of them? Might be worth the cost/complexity/effort for the latter, but probably not for the former.
Deffheads
I intend to have the fixed one [already there ] and a new one I can adjust for low sun conditions.
Derek Uzzell
As I’m sure you are aware, the inexpensive common-or-garden arrangement for fitting a tiltable solar panel to the roof of a leisure-vehicle (motorhome, caravan, boat) involves drilled pieces of L-section as shown in this Amazon advert. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adjustable-Mounting-Bracket-Folding-22-inch/dp/B01LYYEIWB The two main challenges should be self evident - attaching the frame to the roof so that it’s safe when the motohome is being driven, and manually raising and lowering the panel. I don’t now how you plan to do the latter, but I note a suggestion that, if the panel is appropriately positioned, it might be practicable to raise and lower it by reaching through a large roof-window. My recommendation would be to forget the idea, but other forum-members may have more positive views.
Charles
Funnyley enough I've just been looking at 2.6m telescopic ladders to get on the roof to hinge ours up, they are only 6 odd kg.. ^ That's my thread on fun ^
Kennyd
I was thinking unless the MH was able to face the sun when you were driving or parked up would it really be practical ? , if you were driving away from the sun the tilt could make it worse not better Even parked up for the day , the sun is moving position throughout the day so would really work that well ? I understand it would work well if parked up for days at a time with the HM’S solar positioned for best coverage
Paul-
I use a freestanding panel for times when extra power is required, its very easy to tilt or turn.
