"Majority of Britons back suspending Parliament to get Brexit done: 54% say Boris Johnson should leave the EU 'by any means' and 88% think MPs are out of touch with the people they serve"

:D ........

It's just Boris Johnson's personal media mouthpiece helping set the media narrative that the UK public are fully behind a no deal.

Its a Telegraph poll of their own readers which is now as bad as the Brexpress.

Just shows though how full of s**te the Brexiteers are though when they were screaming about democracy and Parliamentary sovereignty yet now they are prepared to bypass parliament in order to just get one over on the remoaners. Pathetic.

So the Torygraph has published the result of a dodgy poll which suggests the majority of people support shutting down Parliament to ensure a no deal Brexit. That poll is repeated in the Daily Wail as fact.

Why is it dodgy? Firstly, it excludes the ‘don’t knows’ then misleadingly reports as a percentage of the British public. Secondly, the poll questions are leading to a preferred response. Thirdly, the questions are not specific; they are way too busy which allows for misinterpretation.

This is manufactured opinion.

It is Dominic Cummings preparing the ground for a ‘the people v Parliament’ propaganda campaign where our elected representatives are portrayed as the enemies of democracy and Boris Johnson is painted as the People’s Hero.

This government has now moved into total Orwellian Newspeak. Don’t fall for it!

Unfortunately the politicians (and their partisan newspapers) on both sides have been feeding us dodgy stuff for so long that we, the public, have lost confidence in politics in a big way.

Few of us are equipped to form any sort of opinion about how damaging a no deal Brexit will be or whether it will turn out to be great opportunity so we're left (at the moment) with having to consider backing someone who is at least showing determination to bring the parliamentary hypocrasy and impasse to a conclusion. And he's packaging this move with a lot of promises of domestic changes which will appeal to many so I rate his chances of success (including in a foolow-up general election) as at least fair.

That despite the Remoaners best efforts UK employment market is thriving B-) ..........

Unlike Germany's >:-) .........

Because investment in machinery and training etc has fallen dramatically. Companies are keeping going by hiring more people on zero hours contracts. Productivity is falling.

Who dare invest in new factories and training when they don't know whether they will be able to get supplies, or sell their stuff abroad?

Do you just make things up and assume that everyone will believe you?

Only 2.4% of workers are on zero hours contracts and the majority of those workers do not want more hours. They are mainly casual and part-time workers for whom the flexibility is more important.

A friend of mine works in a garden centre. He's retired but loves the opportunity of a bit of work occasionally and can also take as many holidays as he likes. He mainly gets called in when staff are sick or on holiday and up to Christmas. He's typical of many people on zero hours contracts but according to some he's an oppressed wage slave being exploited by an unscrupulous employer.

Fewer people than ever are on zero hours contracts and for most of them it's what they want.

Let's look at some of those zero hours contracts, that incidentally account for more than 25% of the employment growth since 2012.

Asda employs 120k workers who are so badly underpaid that last year they claimed £221,300,000 in working tax credits & housing benefits. That's £356,360 per store annually.

And at the same time they support foodbanks that you suggest are an urban myth. https://corporate.asda.com/newsroom/2019/02/25/food-banks-receive-almost-2-million-in-grants-to-provide-more-support-to-people-locked-in-poverty

Zero hours contracts peaked in 2016 and have gone down since. As I said they are only 2.4% of all jobs and when you consider the massive increase in the number of jobs then you would expect that all kinds of job types increase.

As for Asda, many of its workers are part-time and unskilled so won't be high earners.

Are you suggesting though that Asda uses zero hours contracts because I don't believe that they do?

https://corporate.asda.com/newsroom/2019/04/10/asda-proposes-to-streamline-retail-contracts

Finally, please show me where I said that food banks are an urban myth. I have never suggested that they don't exist.

I don't see it as 'getting one over on Remainers'.....more an example of driving a coach and horses through a democratic process to get their own way, knowing full well it would fail if the electorate were clearly told "this is all we can get.....are you sure this is what you want".

Brexiteers day of reckoning will come with consequences when held to account for their actions. We will start with the NHS £350m a week.....every week.

UK unemployment hits 1.33 million after rising by 31,000 in three months, official data shows

Unemployment in Britain grew by 31,000 to 1.3 million between April and June and the jobless rate rose to 3.9 per cent, suggesting that worries about Brexit and the economy may be starting to take their toll on the labour market.

The unemployment rate increased for the first time since the middle of last year and vacancies, which have been declining since the turn of the year, dropped to 820,000 between May and July, according to official data.

“The labour market appears to be reaching a turning point, with unemployment no longer falling, the number of job vacancies no longer increasing and companies and workers deterred from bigger employment decisions by Brexit and global uncertainties,” said Arno Hantzsche, economist at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research.

Ha ha! You were careful to omit the bit about employment rising by 115,000.

Now what's 115 minus 31?

Oops! 84,000 more people in work. Yes, definite proof the economy's crashed.

As I said, ha ha.

Overall, we rate Daily Mail Questionable due to numerous failed fact checks and poor sourcing of information.

Reasoning: Right, Propaganda, Conspiracy, Some Fake News

The Daily Mail is a known a supporter of the Conservatives. They are also one of the pro-Brexit tabloids and according to a Reuters article, the Daily Mail published a controversial headline in response to a Brexit Court ruling criticizing the judges, by branding them as ‘enemies of the people’.

According to CNBC, the Daily mail also has been criticized by Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales for publishing fake news articles and “hyped up” headlines and “mastered the art of running stories that aren’t true’”. Further, CNBC reported that DMG media responded by saying “DailyMail.com is the very antithesis of click-bait and hype headlines. We just tell stories better than anyone else.”

In review, the Daily Mail tends to publish stories utilizing sensationalized headlines. Wikipedia banned the Daily Mail as an ‘unreliable’ source.

Sad loser. And you've just lost again.

Yea i "avoided" his entire article as it's linked from a right wing Tory rag well known for it's sensationalist headers and articles......just as i notice you avoided my link which you didn't like and threw your dummy out the pram as usual. No surprises there then.

Independent; Overall we rate the The Independent Left-Center Biased due to story selection that moderately favors the left and High for factual reporting based on proper sourcing of information and a clean fact check record. A factual search reveals they have not failed a fact check.

That's the difference between the Mail and Independent and i'm yet to see anything of credibility from the former which even has the "distinction" of being banned from Wiki, so prefer to stick with 'factual reporting based on proper sourcing of information' from the latter.

Oh cut the whining rubbish. You're not fooling anyone. You could have sourced the truth yourself.

Your pathetic gloating attempt to suggest that employment is going down has been exposed and once more you've been caught lying.

It's actually gone up by 84,000.

As for biased newspapers. The Independent and the Guardian only highlighted the slight rise in unemployment and made no mention of the extra jobs. They just gave the new employment total so anyone wanting to know the increase had to do a calculation using the last figures.

Don't talk to me about bias, idiot.

Oh look. Germany's in the mire. Of course if the Mail had published this news Bulletbrain would be saying that it's all lies. He doesn't understand that newspapers can be biased, as the Guardian and Independent are, but they can't print deliberate lies. If they do we have the libel laws and the PCC.

Just goes to show ;-) ...........

That despite the Remoaners best efforts UK employment market is thriving B-) ..........

Unlike Germany's >:-) .........

Oh dear......that didn't last long.

“The labour market appears to be reaching a turning point, with unemployment no longer falling, the number of job vacancies no longer increasing and companies and workers deterred from bigger employment decisions by Brexit and global uncertainties,” said Arno Hantzsche, economist at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/unemployment-uk-wages-economy-latest-figures-quarter-pay-growth-a9055301.html

Ha ha! You were careful to omit the bit about employment rising by 115,000.

Now what's 115 minus 31?

Oops! 84,000 more people in work. Yes, definite proof the economy's crashed.

As I said, ha ha.

Those figures you quoted were from Pelmets Wail link.....not the link i posted. Idiot. *-)

Oh look. Germany's in the mire.

Oh sure *-) The German Economy is in such a state you have to pay them to lend them money :D

Unlike UK, German Bond yields are negative.

Which means that instead of lending money to the UK Government and receiving interest, investors are lending to Germany in the full knowlege they will get back less than invested. Thats how much more confidence they have in Germany to look after their Ebillions.

But by your Mad Hatter logic its Germany thats in the mire :D

Pelmetman posted a link showing that employment had increased by 115,000. Because it was in a paper that you don't like you ignored it and gloatingly trumpeted the much smaller increase in unemployment. Now you could have checked other sources but you're too biased and too dim to do that.

Anyone who thinks that the DM would print a figure that could be rubbished immediately, anyone who thinks that the DM would deliberately lie about such figures is beyond crazy.

But of course your 'unbiased' Independent chose not to mention the 115000 increase and like you focused on the increase in unemployment.

It would appear that the more honest publication here is the Daily Mail.

Well, over the last 12 months its economy grew by a tiddling 0.4%. This year the Bank of England expects UK growth to be 1.3%.

It appears that our willy is bigger than there's at present.

"The German economy is now said to be teetering on the brink of recession after official data revealed a contraction in growth for the second-quarter, which has strengthened the case for the European Central Bank (ECB) to cut interest rates and restart its quantitative easing program from September.

German GDP growth was -0.1% for the three months to the end of June, Destatis said on Wednesday, which partly reverses the 0.4% increase seen at the beginning of the year but was in line with the market consensus. This and another contraction back in the third quarter of 2018 mean the German economy grew by just 0.4% in the year to the end of June 2019."

Looks like the proud British Brexiteer Pork sword is in a much stronger position to wave at the forth coming Global recession than the the flaccid German Bratwurst :D ...........
