Brian Kirby
pelmetman - 2019-06-04 1:12 PM..................……...Another one who cant grasp the meaning of ......"Following a Vote to leave" *-) ......... And of the same one who can't grasp "Assuming we leave the EU soon after a vote to leave". Sorry to repeat myself, because I know I've said this before, but you really don't understand forecasting. Forecasts are only valid until the underlying assumptions change, then new forecasts have to be made that take account of the changed circumstances. It is totally pointless dredging up out of date forecasts made over three years ago, and saying they were wrong. No forecasts foretell exact outcomes: they merely indicate the probability of specified events will occurring. You're back to Rumsfeld and the known knowns, the known unknowns, and the unknown unknowns. As he put it "stuff happens". Macmillan was more eloquent with "Events, dear boy, events") Stuff, or events (quite a lot of stuff or events) happened over the past three years. You need to look at the latest forecasts and stop obsessing over those made irrelevant by events.

And of the same one who can't grasp "Assuming we leave the EU soon after a vote to leave". Sorry to repeat myself, Also from the government PDF......... "The analysis in this document comes to a clear central conclusion: a vote to leave would represent an IMMEDIATE and profound shock to our economy. That shock would push our economy into a recession and lead to an increase in unemployment of around 500,000, GDP would be 3.6% smaller, average real wages would be lower, inflation higher, sterling weaker, house prices would be hit and public borrowing would rise compared with a vote to remain. " Nope cant see..... "Assuming we leave the EU soon after a vote to leave"...... mentioned in that either? :-S........ Perhaps you need to go to Specsavers Brian? ;-) ...........Or a shrink 8-) ........... As you're seeing things that aren't there *-) ........... Brian Kirby
Dave, the consequence of the referendum vote was intended to be that we would leave. The forecasts deal with the impacts of leaving, not with voting. We have not yet left, therefore the forecast impacts have not yet arisen. That is the only logical conclusion, and that is why you think they are wrong. Sorry, but I think you are in "Casablanca" territory! :-D The boy stood on the burning deck Whence all but he had fled; The flame that lit the battle's wreck Shone round him o'er the dead. Yet beautiful and bright he stood, As born to rule the storm; A creature of heroic blood, A proud, though child-like form. The flames rolled on–he would not go Without his Father's word; That father, faint in death below, His voice no longer heard. He called aloud–'say, Father, say If yet my task is done?' He knew not that the chieftain lay Unconscious of his son. 'Speak, father!' once again he cried, 'If I may yet be gone!' And but the booming shots replied, And fast the flames rolled on. Upon his brow he felt their breath, And in his waving hair, And looked from that lone post of death In still yet brave despair. And shouted but once more aloud, 'My father! must I stay?' While o'er him fast, through sail and shroud, The wreathing fires made way. They wrapt the ship in splendour wild, They caught the flag on high, And streamed above the gallant child, Like banners in the sky. There came a burst of thunder sound– The boy–oh! where was he? Ask of the winds that far around With fragments strewed the sea!– With mast, and helm, and pennon fair, That well had borne their part– But the noblest thing which perished there Was that young faithful heart.
