Telescopic Ladders

Under pressure from my missus to buy a set because I have a habit of precariously balancing on the steps we currently carry in the van - at home I have safe ladders. The telescopic ladder need to be no longer when extended than 2.3m or so which should give me safe workable height of just over 3m. They also need to be light. Need them to occasionally adjust the coach mirrors but mainly to properly fit the top of the 'silver screen' in poor weather and clean the top of the windscreen.

I've seen 2.64m Abru aluminium ladders weighing 8kg and folding up into 1m but I wonder whether there are better products more suited to occasional motorhome use.

If you carry telescopic ladders in the van, I'd be grateful for details and how you get on with them - especially to avoid damaging the van.

I'd also consider alternatives that will give me a safe uplift of say 1.5m.

I've just bought a 2.6m telescopic ladder off ebay, about £35. 7kg.

Great for getting up on the roof. I made a storage rack under the van out of light gauge unistrut. They clamp safely onto it with M10 rod clamps I made. Well pleased with it. Maybe I can upload a photo if you're interested, although last time I tried it didn't work.

I PMed you back but it seems to be stuck in the outbox *-)

Charles,

PM's sit in your Outbox until the recipient reads them then they move to your Sent box. It's a quirk of this forums outdated software!

I bought a set of tele ladders and find them absolutely brilliant for cleaning and polishing the van etc.

I bought some 22mm foam pipe lagging and fixed that to the ladder wherever it's likely to come in contact with the van, I highly recommend them!.
