At Last 'Raab confirmed on Sunday that people arriving at ports and airports could be quarantined for 14 days.

...

But why have they waited till the virus is already established here >:-)

From what I heard of the proposals, when it was being reported on later last night, this "quarantine" appears to be little more than arrivals needing to let the authorises know the address at which they'll be staying at, and for them to promise just to stay there for 14 days..?! ..on the off chance that someone may check up on them...?

Unless it's changed this morning,it certainly didn't sound like they were going to to marched off to some holding facility.

So, if that's the case, not really "quarantine" as such..

Not much point now the virus is here.

Stable Door ... Horse has bolted etc

But at least the Government has realised that quarantine at the borders is a good idea

Just 3 months too late :-S

When did EU world put in place border restrictions ??? ... Obviously before the 3 months you say was too late for us ???

Unlike them, We have the advantage of being surrounded by water.

So we could have stopped Covid19 at the borders BoJo has 'taken back control' of

If he wasn't still as 'Lazy and Complacent' as he was at Eton

So I take it you either have no idea or more likely the wonderful EU didn't restrict borders before the 3 months ??? ... Either way ya look a liccle silly

I'll try to explain it again

They don't have the advantage of being surrounded by water like we are, so they couldn't seal their borders from the virus like BoJo could have sealed ours.

So Australia or NZ didn't get it?

Australia and NZ contained theirs by compulsory quarantine at an approved facility for all returning citizens. None were allowed to simply wander back into the country and go to their homes.

We had the virus here at least at the the end of February, some of my ski club friends came back from Austria early with it. They went into isolation straight away.Fortunately they all survived it.

Brian B.

Good to hear that your friends got through it okay...:-D

Can I ask, at that stage, were suspected cases being tested and mapped etc or were they just being told to stay home and "isolate"?...…………..

Here you go, https://tinyurl.com/ya4xw7og and a little further down in the same article it says that at the time the first two cases were confirmed (Friday 31 January) 175 tests had been carried out, with only the two being positive.

I'll try again *-)

Do you understand Covid 19 did not originate in Britain?

Do you understand the English channel is more than 2 metres wide, so the virus can't cross on its own?

Do you understand that gave BoJo time to test and quarantine at the borders he has 'taken back control' of

When you understand that, you should understand he didn't need hindsight to keep the virus out
