Derek Uzzell
For what it’s worth, evidently certain Garmin sat-navs DO (or did) have the capability to attach a reversing-camera cable to them. It was mentioned in this 2012 Hints & Tips forum discussion https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Hints-and-Tips/Attaching-reversing-camera-to-sat-nav/27516/ and the sat-nav (a Garmin 1490TV model) is shown in this advert https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/p/68763 The Garmin Camper 760LMT (now discontinued) apparently also had the necessary socket https://forums.motorhomefacts.com/42-sat-nav-gps/116745-sat-nav-reversing-camera-input-socket.html With smartphones displacing sat-navs to a large degree, plus recent vehicles having as standard a sat-nav and/or reversing-camera image that can be displayed on a scren integrated into the vehicle’s dashboard, there’s now much less incentive for manufacturers of sat-navs to include a bulky cable-socket in the device. colin
vindiboy - 2020-06-14 12:44 PM I have traveled many thousands of miles throughout Europe in most countries with my trusted Tom Tom Via many years old ,and never had any problems, unfortunately now I do have problems with my T T Via , the charging plug in has failed, and I feel now is the time to get a new one, It will be Tom Tom again for me as I love them, I have 3, one in the car and 2, now 1 [ basic] in the van, I do not need to be told bridge heights or traffic jams blue tooth connection or any of that gubbins just life time map updates which is easy on T T. I have google App Navigation on the phone but do not like that, so as soon as lock down is over I will go to John Lewis again and get a new T T , I could buy on line but like to hold the item I am buying in my hands before purchase.adding my Own POIs on T T is really easy too. I made the mistake of thinking the newer TT's would be the same as my old Via, was a couple of years before they allowed third party poi's and even now can't load the icons. Agaric
You can update maps direct over wi-fi without a computer or you can download Garmin Express onto a computer and use that.
