chas
My Peugeot Boxer reg05 needs another pulse generator fitting and was wondering if anyone has fitted one themselves? Does the job need to be done upon a garages ramp? I am pretty handy but not a mechanic by any means. Any thoughts most appreciated.
pepe63xnotuse
Hi.. I don't know if they're referring to the same component..but in this old thread Dave Newell ( of, https://davenewell.co.uk/ ) seems to paint it as a simple-ish task?... http://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Duff-Speedometer-on-Peugeot-Boxer-2004/17430/
chas
Yes, it's a very old thread, now things have changed including the item, so should imagine the job is completely different to do. Thanks anyway.
chas
Although the MOT does not require the speedometer to work, the generator does effect the mileometer to not work either. I could just carry on using my sat nav for speed guidence but each MOT I have done will show the same milage how would that satisfy the MOT examiner ? Would look like I was clocking the mileometer and on selling might cause problems for buyers.
Derek Uzzell
Chas I notice that a speedometer problem was mentioned in your question in June 2020 and a possible ‘pulse generator’ issue was suggested then (with a link provided to the same 2009 forum thread pepe63 mentions). https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Fitting-a-pulse-generator/56479/#M665693 Does your current enquiry mean that the generator fitted earlier this year has failed, or something else, please? It’s possible that the part’s specification may have changed, but I’m doubtful that’s any change would affect the installation procedure. Why not ask Dave Newell... https://davenewell.co.uk/contact/
chas
Derek- no have not had one fitted yet, what with lockdown restrictions ect , it appears it has to be a Peugeot part at a very silly price ?? can obtain one secondhand at a third of the price, hence thoughts of fitting it myself, cheers. Derek Uzzell
There’s this other 2009 forum thread (Boxer related) in which Dave Newell commented https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/speedo-problem/14308/ Based on Dave’s comments, what you are asking aboiut would more accurately be called a “speedometer speed sensor” as shown in this advert. https://coastalmotorhomes.co.uk/fiat-ducato-peugeot-boxer-citroen-relay-speed-sensor-1332811080.html UK on-line adverts for this part have an asking-price of up to £110 for a ‘genuine' OEM part, but new ‘pattern’ equivalents are being offered for under £20 (example advert here) https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/616083?gadw=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjPmnw5ev7AIVCbrtCh2nBwKmEAAYAiAAEgLNnvD_BwE This advert (£49 for part) includes some caveats about fitting the thing. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/616083-SPEEDO-SENSOR-FIAT-DUCATO-PEUGEOT-BOXER-CITROEN-RELAY-1332811080-/283785964344
