Barryd999 - 2020-12-25 7:46 AM.............................Well at the French end. Brits probably just wont bother.

But I think the outgoing checks on goods leaving the UK will have to be carried out by French Customs bods in UK, otherwise, once the French ends fill with EU bound trucks, they'll have to stop loading ferries and shuttles in UK. It will only take a few trucks with the wrong paperwork to clog the flow. That is what those big lorry parks in Kent are all about, isn't it? So they can hold back those who fail until they clear, while the others pass them by.

Yes, I think that is what I meant. There clearly seems to be no intention of us checking inwardly though. how can there be? There is nothing prepared.

Maybe it is assumed that as the stuff is coming from within the EU, as it has hitherto, there is no need to check it, as it will comply with the same standards as at present. Maybe it will - maybe it won't?

The UK has elected to waive all checks for the first six months, as all available customs officers are working on minimising queues at Dover. Apparently they don't think it will affect national security.

Only applies to goods subject to tariff. Sealed roll on roll off containers will not be checked. It depends on the goods involved.

So much for taking back control of our borders *-)

Furlough fraud, eat out fraud, covid loan fraud, PPE contract fraud, and now this.

At least some people are doing well out of BoJo's Government :-S
