The Gorbals Gobbess........

Prue Leith on GMB this morning telling people to get vaccinated.

Interesting to note that she had her first Pfizer vaccination before Christmas and the second three weeks later in January, which was against government advice. Perhaps there are different rules for the parents of Tory MPs: Danny Kruger is her son.

In other news Stanley Johnson has also had both injections and according to the dictionary definition has now been vaccinated.

Unfortunately I've just read that Capt. Tom Moore has died .

Reaching 100 is always a good innings.

Hats Off.

Yes indeed, hats off. It takes a very big man to use and not be tainted by the excesses of the media circus when it calls.

I salute you, and all of your generation wito whom we all owe so much.

Captain Sir Tom Moore RIP.

What about those who donated the £30 odd million in return for his walking round his garden?

What about them?

I'd like to remember them too.

The Government sees its first duty as defending the Government, so always puts its military on a pedestal.

Whilst ignoring future generations to whom we will owe even more when we leave them with BoJo's debts.

the Government have made a lot of mistakes

Was giving £billions of our money to their cronies a mistake?

Do you know any different tunes or are you too stuck in your own alternatove workd?

May I respectfully suggest that if you are so opposed to the Tory party you stand for parliament as an 'alternative' mp?

Question too difficult was it?

None of that makes a lot of sense to me.

Why would you not put those who served on a pedestal.

The guys on the arctic convoys probably had the worst job of the war.

But they were denied medals and ignored in Churchills VE day speech.

By that time their carrying out his orders had become an embarrassment to him.

Churchill realised we had declared war on Hitler to get him out of Poland, and were leaving Poland with Stalin who was worse than Hitler.

So Hitler wanted us to join the remains of the German Army and fight Stalin - who Churchill had saved by giving him our much needed supplies.

But by then it was too late. :-S

I know a few lads who joined the forces. They did it for the money, the travel, the training for a civvy career / whatever. I can't imagine any doing it to defend the Government. They would probably laugh at the suggestion :-S

If someone gets killed fighting for the Government

why would you put them on a pedestal above someone who gets killed in an farm or factory accident whilst growing food.... or a site accident building homes or supplying our water?

I can see why the Government does it

Because they see defending the Government as more important than providing our food and water or homes :-S

As we are talking about Capt. Sir Tom Moore , he didn't have a choise about fighting in WW2 so should be respected according.

Most people would salute this fact.

What that has to do with accidents .....i have no idea.

The rest is just your pet hate so i will just ignore it.

Well I did have a choice and nearly joined the RAF

But it was all about me - the money, travel, career etc

Certainly wouldn't have been doing it to die defending the Government or even the country

Same as my schoolmates :-S

I'm really not understanding this, joining forces today is a career. I believe allegiance is to the crown not a government.

So this guy walks round his garden

Others give £30 million to charity

who gets the credit for it?

Really ?....... Everyone.

didn't hear anyone else mentioned :-S

So the purpose of Capt Moore walking round his garden was to raise funds for NHS. He was 99 with a zimmer frame so actually quite a difficult task for him.

Because he got a lot of publicity funds poured in.

People were enthusiastic about his task.

He benefitted, the NHS benefitted, everyone who donated and nearly everyone ( apparently apart from you) was happy.

All of Society gets the credit, and Society sees the benefit too.

Look at young Tony Hudgell [another proper little hero if ever there was]

If Capt Tom was the inspiration for him, then his walk around the garden [as you put it] was worth the effort for that alone.

There are plenty of other examples of how the whole Capt Tom 'thing' inspired people across the nation.

What a sad and very bitter troll you have become Peter/John

They swear allegiance to Her Unelected Majesty the Queen, who appoints and dissolves the Government

Not to us.

What I am saying is that choosing the military would not have made me a hero.

I'd still be the same person.

Choosing the career I thought was best for me personally.

Like my schoolpals did who chose the military.

Because the military offered them (money/travel/housing/whatever) more than anyone else did.

They were quite clear about that, as was I.
