Said on the news BoJo is to send some Astra Zeneca to poor countries

Someone should tell him there are poor people in England

Child hunger worst in Europe according to Unicef

(but pelmet will know better *-) )

Maybe BoJo is looking to shift some of the stuff we have paid top dollar for, and no one will want when they can get better stuff - like the crap PPE we have paid top dollar for and no one wants ?

Actually a plan put forward by Macron and Boris has backed the idea.

So why does it say in your article that this "may happen before the end of the year"? It's almost as if we haven't got a surplus currently?

You really are a propagandists wet dream, believing what the headline says, and not reading/comprehending the caveats within the main text.

But why then are you comparing one country, the UK, with 27 other individual countries who are independently rolling out their vaccine programs at a rate determined by each country.

Did you know that Japan hasn't even started its vaccine rollout yet, can you imagine why they do not need to rush? There are 102,476 reasons - which is the difference in the number of deaths.

Actually it's you that's been making yourself look extremely silly and from what i've seen over the past week or so amounted to nothing less than persistent baiting and trolling by you to CurtainRaiser.

The reason I posted a bar graph showing UK and EU has been very clearly explained to you more than once, but you ignore it.

You then complained to CurtainRaiser, the graph i'd posted didn't show individual countries.

I asked 'how many did you want' and posted a graph listing many more countries but you ignored that and went back to baiting and trolling CurtainRaiser.

The two closest countries in population to the UK are France (67m) and Germany (83m), both of whom are well ahead of UK in fully vaccinating their population.

Your graphs are completely irrelevant as the 16 million uk citizens will be 80% protected which is 25% of the population.

Apart from the small number of EU citizens with two jabs 80 to 90% have no protection.

Its already been shown getting more people with one jab is the way to go.

The United Kingdom leading the rest of Europe

In terms of the absolute number of vaccinations, the UK, which approved its first COVID-19 vaccine on December 2, nearly three weeks before the EU, is racing ahead with immunising its people.

Who has made the best progress, relatively speaking?

The UK has administered the most vaccines overall, but it also leads in terms of vaccinations per capita of population.

Malta, Serbia and Denmark are also strong on this measure.

Your graphs are completely irrelevant....

They will be when you persist in not comparing like for like. Quite frankly i've no idea why either of you voted to leave the EU as both of you obsess over what EU countries are doing on an almost daily basis.

UK just under 1% with 95% protection and (as we know) 25% with 85% protection.

But we don't "know", we have the Wail and Co screaming Doris was "right in his gamble with your life and the future efficacy of the vaccine " (I've paraphrased slightly for brevity) when more responsible publications are stressing that more research is still needed in this area. Luckily for them they have the UK as a laboratory and a few more thousand deaths in our world beating figures won't look so bad.

So we will in time "know", but at the time Bullet posted his graph with individual countries listed it was 100% accurate as to the number of people vaccinated.

Israel study shows 85% effectiveness.

I didn’t say the graph was inaccurate just didn’t show the whole picture.

Israel study shows 85% effectiveness.

I didn’t say the graph was inaccurate just didn’t show the whole picture.

From that link

"The FDA said in December data from those trials showed that the vaccine began conferring some protection to recipients before they received the second shot, but more data would be needed to assess the potential of a single-dose shot.

Pfizer has said alternative dosing regimens of the vaccine have not been evaluated yet".

And "Sheba said among 7,214 hospital staff who received their first dose in January, there was an 85% reduction in symptomatic COVID-19 within 15 to 28 days. The overall reduction of infections, including asymptomatic cases detected by testing, was 75%.

Sheba epidemiologist Gili Regev-Yochay cautioned that the cohort studied at the hospital were “mostly young and healthy”.

Unlike with Pfizer’s clinical trial, “we don’t have many (staff) here aged over 65,” she told reporters. But she also noted that the Sheba study took place during a surge in COVID-19 infections in Israel, which flooded hospitals with new cases."

So no the Israeli study doesn't show 85% effectiveness, it MAY show 85% effectiveness but further studies are needed. The good news is that you having had your vaccination are now part of that trial, well done for giving your informed consent to being a Guinea pig on the effect on a older age range.
