Uk is a bit slow there, this was three months ago

https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_20_2262

What use is 500 million euros when the poorer countries need actual vaccine? ;-) ..........

Vaccine that the incompetent EU cant spare......Unlike Brexit Blighty >:-) .........

Suck it up HATER (lol) (lol) (lol) ..........

Except the UK is just making pledges - it is actually agreeing to donate "surplus" vaccine at some time in the future. Something that most countries are agreeing to, including EU ones.

When will the EU have spare vaccine.......2022?........2023? :D .........

We will have spare vaccine in 7 months time B-) .........

Where Brexit Blighty Leads.......the EU dawdles behind >:-) .......

(lol) (lol) (lol) .........

Looks like that seven months wait isnt going to cause any problems.

A cynic might suggest that Doris is doing this so these countries can replace the UK in the league of death charts?

https://www.sciencemag.org/news/2021/02/unprotected-african-health-workers-die-rich-countries-buy-covid-19-vaccines

Thats awful, the EU should immediately give up all its vaccines and save lives by giving it all to African countries. As you have said the poor UK is only a 3rd World country and will have to cut its overseas aid budget.

Apart from they are not the EU vaccines, each independent and sovereign country has its own vaccines to distribute as it sees fit, do you understand that yet? That is why the roll-out is different in each EU country.

And I didn't say that the UK should cut its overseas budget, that was Doris breaking a manifesto commitment that he made before the last election - but as we know he likes to break his word.

And for the record because of the immediate need for vaccines in less developed countries it was Macron that called for ALL countries to give up 5% of their current vaccine availability now, not in seven months time.

Under its vaccines strategy, the Commission has forged agreements with individual vaccine producers on behalf of EU countries. Once available, proven safe and effective, and authorised at EU level, all Member States will have access to COVID-19 vaccines at the same time and the distribution will be done on a per capita basis to ensure fair access.

Thats what i call ...an EU vaccine..

And we are now well beyond the stage where "the distribution will be done on a per capita basis to ensure fair access."

Which was the end of December.

So it is sovereign states within the EU that are now in charge of distribution.

Nope, its the same vaccine you'll be getting next week. Surely you are not getting a EU vaccine, you better decline it and eat an extra yogurt.

You seem to be getting your wires crossed.

The EU vaccine is the vaccine in the EU.

Extra yoghurt is always a good idea , but there are many ways to improve your immune system .

As I understand it;

Same as UK except it costs more in UK , and if the manufacturer sells dodgy vaccine in UK they cannot be sued.

But if the manufacturer sold dodgy vaccine in the EU they can be sued.

(oh and we have left the EU 'cos BoJo gets better deals than the EU *-) )

Uk is a bit slow there, this was three months ago

https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_20_2262

How mean a group of 27 countries donate only 500 million euros when the UK (4 countries ) donate £548 million

Except some of those 27 countries also donated in their own individual right as sovereign countries can.

So how much have these states that you claim have made extra donations. To achieve parity with the UK donation the total would have to add up to 6.75 times the amount the UK donated.

For someone who has a university education you need to understand sovereign, the 27 EU states have to comply with the EU directives so not sovereign in the full meaning of the word.

Except the UK donation isnt £548 million, with typical spin its "upto £500M" with $1 of match funding promised for every $4 promised by others. Still some mugs saw the headline and believed it, some even repeated it.

You really are being obtuse and mildly offensive. Try looking at the actual payments as certified by Gavi UK $735 million

EU $485 million

Really shows up the meanness of a group of 27 states does it not.

Except the pledges made by the EU and other countries in December has allowed COVAX to start the rollout to health professionals in less developed countries NOW. Not wait until the end of the year, typically blighty doing things too late.

Good job they had the EU cash and didn't have to wait "until the end of the year" to see if Brexit Blighty had some out of date vaccine stock to offload.
