J9withdogs
I believe that motorhoming/camping is exactly what you make it. Travelling alone, I find that there are lots of kind people more than willing to share their knowledge & skills when I have a little problem (of which, having an elderly M/H, there are a few!) on site. As, indeed, on this site! I tagged onto an unknown CCC rally last weekend and met some lovely people, but they happily took the hint if I wanted to bury my nose in my book & have some peace & quiet. So I say 'flash the smile, if they don't smile back it's their loss, not yours' (lol)
Guest starspirit
My point exactly. We will happily chat to anyone anywhere, and when we used to use sites would often stroll around looking for a victim to socialise with. Many passing acquaintances were thus formed and then dissolved upon leaving the location. All part of the fun of camping and of being part of the living. However we also increasingly found less people willing to socialise as the years passed and this always seemed worse on certain club's sites. So if we ain't good enough to talk to on site we ain't good enough to wave either!

Forester
Just got home from "down south" waved to at least 100 van owners but only about 20 returned the wave , got none off the posh buggers. So if anyone of you see a campervan hi-top with fanfare on the front please wave its me. he he

flicka
Like Graham, we try to wave to everyone, but have to admit we missed a few of you on the A1 today. Apologies guys and girls, if I missed your wave, but on Dual Carriageways and Motorways traffic conditions take precidence. Flicka
Sinners
We used to wave at every h/home, camper and prison van!! that we passed. We found that High Tops, Americans and Autosleepers didn't wave back, so we now only wave at those in response. Of course, if we come accross an Autocruise, they get a flash and a wave. twooks
we have a hi-top, and I've pretty much given up waving unless we're going slowly enough to have made eye-contact, I'm always ignored - other motorhomers are clearly colour prejudiced and refuse to wave to blue vans :'( :'( :'( lived in the north west when we had an acceptable coloured van - ie white! near Chorley - OH is from Rochdale B-)

Tomo3090
Perhaps some of the "Non wavers" are just renting their vans and don't appreciate the protocols involved in owning a prestigous vehicle like a motorhome! Or even worse, they don't know this forum exists for the truly discerning owners and therefore won't know they should be waving!! (lol)
Thai Bry
Quite agree, some people don't wave to us thinking that as we are in a Hymer, we will not wave back!!! It's good to wave.

Dancer
Good to see that at least one Hymer owner will wave to 'other makes'. I think it's an A class thing. We used to get lots of waves in our Autosleeper Legend, except from Hymers, don't get nearly as many now in our Elnagh A class but nearly all Hymers wave. Odd that. Good to see Chorley 'on the map' so to speak. We still wave at most things, including pedestrians at times, get some funny looks. Richard, you will be welcome to pester us on site, if you see an A class van with a dancers logo on the back, come in for a brew. Bring a bottle: we are from Lancashire, short arms and long pockets. Forester, real Chopper Club? What did you build?
