Loobylou
I have a double socket in my house garage, my EHU is plugged into one and I normally have security light plugged into other socket. With the recent storms I unplugged security light, because it was constantly being triggered with the wind. I decided to plug it back in and almost got a shock as it caused a spark and bright flash. I'm guessing the plug might have been damp somehow. I went into my motorhome in case I'd blown a fuse or done any damage and discovered reverse polarity light was lit up. I've turned power off to the motorhome, which is an Autotrail Apache 632. Not sure why that has lit up. I don't know if I need an electrician to check the sockets in the garage or the motorhome, or both. Or whether it could need the EHU cable changing. I think it's possible to buy some device to check the electrics but I'm wondering if it would be too technical for me to attempt myself. I'd be grateful for any advice regarding this sudden problem. Keithl
The simplest type of tester is the plug top style which you just plug in and look at the lights, this will tell you if you have a fault with your garage socket or if all is well there then move it into the MH. Something like https://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-ms6860d-16a-socket-tester-230v-ac/91596 (other makes are available). Keith.
