Going out on31st August. Does the emission zone for Rouen for all vehicles come into effect on 1st September. Have applied for crit air sticker but will not come back in time. Our van is 17 years old and we think we are category 4 but not sure.

At moment thinking of getting through Rouen before 12 midnight, would we avoid a fine if we do this.

From 1 September 2022 the minimum standard will be Crit'Air sticker 3 for all vehicles.

o diesel car and vans Euro 4

o diesel HGV Euro 5

o petrol cars and vans Euro 2 and 3

Prior to that date [presumably starting at 00:01] the scheme only applied to commercial vehicles [plus others owned by businesses, public authorities etc]

The main through routes in Rouen are outside the emissions zone so don't worry.

Went through through Rouen yesterday , 23 August, roadworks just after the bridge divert traffic onto the E46, the east route past the railway goods yards.

Note that there is also work on the tunnel on the down hill approach to Rouen, vehicles over 3.5t have to divert. Its no problem driving through the tunnel, only one lane in use.

It's a 50 Kph limit with camera on the approach to and in the tunnel, easy to overspeed with the gradient.

The traffic seems light on the French roads, perhaps they are all on holiday.

Diesel fuel 1.82 euro at supermarkets, cheaper than UK, If you get a good exchange rate.

We came S through Rouen yesterday- over 3.5 tons so followed the diversion (continuing to A150 Dieppe autoroute and into Rouen that way. The signage was a bit unclear- some illuminated boards just said 3.5 tons, others signs depicted a lorry with the weight - which wouldn’t have included us, but to avoid any hassle we followed the diversion.

I was surprised that there were NO signs at all going through Rouen suggesting the ecozone started in 3 days time! Not sure how the French tend to introduce such changes - it did make me wonder if it will be a “soft” introduction?

1.82€ is very good. We're off on Thursday arriving at Caen and checked the supermarket prices along route to Île de Ré and can't find cheaper than 1.93€. But even that's £1.65 so much cheaper than the UK, even with my Santander 123 3% cashback.
