laimeduck
We are heading down towards south Devon and Cornwall in a couple of weeks to visit my cousin who lives near Portscatho on Roseland. We will meander down from Romney Marsh along the south coast, Hastings, Brighton, Chichester, Southampton, Bournemouth, Lyme Regis, Exeter, Plymouth, Looe. Can anyone recommend pubs along that route who allow motorhomes to stop for the night? Happy to pay for a pub site, or eat in, in return for a stopover. (Or even reasonable campsites with pubs walkable) Jeremy

(Or even reasonable campsites with pubs walkable) Jeremy One close to my home is the Holme Bush Inn at Corfe Mullen near Poole. It was a C&CC 5 van site but pub is under new management so i am not sure if it still is. It would be on your Bournemouth to Lyme Regis leg. It is a short stroll to bus stops with half hourly service to Poole or Wimborne. https://holmebush.com/camping/ I am not sure of the route your meandering west of Poole will take you but there are a few pubs which allow stop overs on the Wareham to Weymouth road : The Red Lion at Winfrith https://redlionwinfrith.com/ The Seven Stars at Wool https://sevenstars.co.uk/ We have also stopped at The Countryman at East Knighton where the landlord was an ex motorhome owner and allowed stopovers in the car park if eating in the pub. https://ourlocal.pub/pubs/countryman-dorchester/ Further west between Charmouth and Axminster we used to stop overnight at the Hunters Lodge Inn on the main A35 but do not know if they still allow it. https://www.hunterslodgeinn.co.uk/

ColinM50
Most Toby restaurants I've tried are happy for you to stay the night and we always have a meall too. Give a call to the one nearest where you're aiming to stay. https://www.tobycarvery.co.uk and Beefeater's too
Deffheads
We have stopped at the Grillhouse 303 near Tintinhull on A303, it's an American diner serving alcohol in bottles. See menu online, Contact before you stay with them.
laimeduck
rayc - 2022-08-29 8:04 PM One close to my home is the Holme Bush Inn at Corfe Mullen near Poole. It is a short stroll to bus stops with half hourly service to Poole or Wimborne. https://holmebush.com/camping/ Thanks everyone for your useful replies. We will probably stop on the way down at the Holme Bush Inn near Corfe Mullen, which is more or less half way in our journey. On the return we will possibly go to the True Lovers Knot at Tarrant Keynston near Blandford Forum. Just as a heads up, the Pilot Inn at Dungeness has just announced that campervans and motorhomes are NO LONGER welcome to stop the night. Presumably their hospitality has been abused. There has been a marked increase in vans parked all along the coast from Dungeness to Folkestone, sadly with the resultant unpleasant detritus that the scumbags deposit. (We get enough plastic bottles full of amber coloured liquid along the roads courtesy of foreign truck drivers who "overnight" in every conceivable stopping place without these cheapskates.) Why do these so called motorhomers spoil things for the majority? Jeremy
laimeduck
Another quick update ... the Holme Bush Inn in Corfe Mullen are now only doing lunches, no evening food, just drinks. (Campsite is still open). We have therefore swapped to The True Lovers Knot up towards Blandford Forum, who have a campsite and food. terryW
Watch out for the road closure Cadnam roundabout to Ringwood. That is unless you have already met it!
