Gas problem

Assuming you are new to motorhoming, then start with the gas bottle. Is it full or at least has some gas?

ensure the stopcock on the bottle is open, I use Autogas refillable bottles but can’t remember wether propane and propane open in opposite directions.

Turn on the hob and listen for gas flow. If the hob has safety thermocouple cutouts you may need to hold the knob in whist turning on. You may then hear gas. Bear in mind the gas may have to travel a good distance from bottle to hob so ignition may be delayed.

if you have no luck then check the three red isolating knobs in their other plane, ie turn them By 90 degrees then try your hob again.

if the hob ignites then try the other appliances. The fridge is notoriously slow to ignite.

if you still have failure then turn to the regulator. Some have a cut out button which may need reset. Occasionally a regulator goes faulty. Failing this perhaps a visit to a gas engineer for diagnosis and in any case a gas check may be money well spent.

A 2003 was on the changeover from cylinder mounted regulators to bulkhead mounted regulator so which do you have? What cylinders are you using, Calor, refillables, etc? Possibly post a photo of your gas locker please?

Gas cylinder knobs always open anti-clockwise and close clockwise (the same as kitchen taps) remember - Lefty Loosen (open) Righty tighten (close).

There is possibly a main isolating tap immediately after the regulator, rule of thumb here is the tap top should be inline with the pipe for gas to flow and across the pipe to 'block' the flow.

And agree with Davy, the gas can take a minute or more to get to the most far flung appliances after standing for weeks or longer.

This link is to a Swift/Bessacarr Owner's Handbook that would be appropriate for a 2003 model-year motorhome

https://www.bessacarr-owners-club.org/info-centre/manuals/motorhome/1048640-MH-Owners-Hbook-2003.pdf

Pages 19-21 relate to the gas system that  would have comprised a regulator that attaches directly to the gas-bottle, with a flexible hose between the regulator and the motorhome's metal gas pipework.

This 2021 forum thread discussed a similar problem with a 1998 motorhome. Plenty of advice was given, but the motorhome's owner never said whether the problem had been cured.

(As rpk31 has only just bought the Bessacarr motorhome, contacting the seller (dealer or private individual) would make good sense. Motorhome owners are often DIY addicts and there's no knowing what modifications might have been made to the vehicle since 2003.)
