European LEZ

We plan to tour Scandinavia during May & June this year.  Via Holland, Germany, Denmark Norway, Sweden and back via Belgium and France. I'm struggling to find out where and how much it is for Low Emission Zone permits.  Easy to find the costs of non-compliance, France 285euros for not displaying screen sticker, Sweeden 1000sek, in Antwerp i'ts £30 per day!  Some cities ban diesel vehicles completely from entering. The Dutch web site does not recognize British registrations.  I know we should be able to purchase permits at various outlets in each country, but that's stressful and not what we are on holiday for. Plus, if we can't find a seller, or there's no internet we return home to hundreds of pounds in fines.  Anybody traveled these countries and can offer some guidance would be much appreciated.

I'm sorry but I haven't been to the Benelux cities for twenty years.

As for the Scandinavian countries:

Norway : register on https://www.autopass.no/en and (for payments ) on https://www.epass24.com

Sweden: register on https://www.epass24.com/ (same of Norway). As far as I know in Sweden there are congestion tax in Stockolm and Gotheborg, managed by e-pass24.

Plus two toll bridges (Motala and Sundsvall). Both easily avoidable by a short detour.

For the Oresund bridge (DK <--> S), even if you only go there once, it should be possible to register and pay for the Bro Pass (or Oresund Go) which is very convenient.

See https://www.swedishnomad.com/oresund-bridge/ and https://www.oresundsbron.com/private.

For your itinerary, it's certainly worthwhile registering and paying for the "National" schemes for both Germany and France. (The "Umweltplakette" and "Crit-Air" respectively - Though for Germany, it's getting less useful if you don't qualify for a green plakette). The supplied sticker(s) will last for the life of the vehicle.

Various sites offer online purchase, or (at least for Germany) you can buy from Dealers and TuV stations when you're there. The following two links are as easy and cheap as you will find for the above, and provide the stickers in advance by post.

https://www.berlin.de/labo/mobilitaet/kfz-zulassung/feinstaubplakette/shop.86595.en.php

(whilst issued by the city of Berlin. this is valid throughout Germany. The only page you need to copy from your V5C and attach is that with sections 4 to 7 on it)

https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/

(and there has been some debate/guidance on filling in the form on here recently that can be searched)

I've generally found these to be enough for touring the Continent, though it pays to be aware of the various restrictions that might affect your itinerary (much of which will apply to city-centres, and can be pre-planned or avoided). Derek's link will help with that.

Don't forget Congestion Charges/Tolls. (and for Scandinavia, as above, it is probably sensible to sign up for one of the automated payment gateways).

Thats pages 3 & 4 but none of that gives the emissions on my V5C - all that is in the vehicle details on page 2

Sections 4-7 is just to do with 4)selling, 5)exporting, 6)new keeper, and 7) blank page.

...that would depend on when your vehicle was registered.  😉

I'd looked at what I'd sent off to Berlin, and it was as I said above.

The V5C format has since changed, and you're correct with your statement as far as that is concerned.

Whatever, the only bits they need to see are the "Vehicle Details", previously section 4, and now the first section. (For most UK registered motorcaravans, there will be no detailed emissions data, though there might or might not be an indication of the Euroxx classification. They're quite happy to issue the appropriate disc based on first registration date).
