Engine Battery

Recommended Posts

Hi all, Had a new engine battery 4 months ago (Varta) fitted by RAC, 5 year warranty ,have called RAC 3 times since, as Battery , not enough power to start the engine, Rac, tested, stated, the battery takes a charge and Altenator charging, stated i was not useing the M/H enough and to hard wire a trickle charge unit in, to keep it topped up. Fine, done that, but once disconnected, wild camp, the battery starts to drop volts again, over 3-4 days. Rac , stated if they come out and they connect up and the battery turns the engine over to get started, they cannot exchange the battery, as it passed by there computer, Therfore, they cant go further into the system, to exchange the battery, ?????????? any thoughts.ta

It could be the cab radio , or rear view  camera , if fitted , even if turned off , but on standby model (depending on make and model of Motorhome and the habitation electrical system fitted) causing the voltage drop over a short period .

As this, you need to determine what is draining the battery, I would note that most if not all Ducato motorhomes seem to struggle after a month of non use, but should be ok after a few days.
