blaven
The sealant around my roof skylights has gone hard, crumbly and dirty. Gentle prying releases chunks of it, and it needs resealing. Which, specific sealant product would be best for this please? I'm thinking some sort of Sikaflex?
Derek Uzzell
If you just plan to seal around the edges of the rooflight, this 2015 forum thread may help https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Silkaflex/39099/

Derek Uzzell
blaven - 2019-03-18 3:40 PM Thanks Derek So it looks like either 512, or 252. Or Henkel Teroson If you look at the following results of a GOOGLE-search https://tinyurl.com/yyn6bu55 and select the 2nd entry that begins https://svn.sika.com/dms.... you should download an old leaflet about Sikaflex-512 Caravan that shows it being used for sealing around a rooflight. Sikaflex-512 caravan is UV resistant and readily available. It’s quite likely that a motorhome/caravan dealer will stock it, but make sure that the cartridge’s ‘use by’ date is valid. (Hodgson Seamseal CV is marketed as a “non drying bedding sealant”. My view is that it would be inferior to Sikaflex-512 Caravan for sealing around the edge of a rooflifght.) monique.hubrechtsgm
I saw many motor homes whit a sealing product. It is all the same product and very commercial. All depends on the Applicator. To much, or less. And a straight line. Simple rule renew them in time. Key word 45 degrees angle. I kit today my postbox because the news papers get wet.
