We're off next weekend to CC site Blackmore near Great malvern. Anyone know of a pub nearby with decent beer and food, traditional pub type preferred with a selecton of real ales? Got the good pub guide but there's nothing like persoanal recommendations :-D

Hi Roger,

When we were staying at Blackmore a couple of years ago we went to the Pheasant at Welland for a meal and it was very good.

If you turn right out of the site, go straight over in Hanley Swan it's then 2 miles on your left at the crossroads of the B4208 and A4104. It's under 3 miles from the site so walkable on a good day, or even cyclable!

Hope it's still as good now as it was then.

Keith.

There are lots of pubs around Malvern which serve food but, like everywhere else, it depends on which chef is employed at that time. Chefs around here tend to move around, possibly for better wages or conditions. So you can go one time and it is very good but the next time it is dreadful or the prices have gone through the roof. For example the Anchor near Welland used to be excellent but the last time we went the prices were even higher and the place was empty - greedy landlords. This was last year and have not been since.

At the moment the Bluebell in Barnards Green is serving two meals for £10 at lunchtime. Good value but quite a wait sometimes as they are so popular.
