Andrew MMM Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 The end of the season is approaching - but will you be soldiering on through the winter months? If so, what are your plans? Where are you heading?
David Dwight Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Theres no season in our book we just go all year. Three more trips planned before Christmas. Then away over New Year, nothing planned just yet after that, but then we just go on the spur of the moment when we feel like it.
HansZinderfaan Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 We haven't really decided this year. There is still one trip booked for November after that it depends what comes along. Our present motorhome has the same heater ( Truma ) as our previous 'van which appears to work even better than the last one and we never suffered from the cold even in January when the frost stayed around all day! I draw the line at Christmas as it is a time for family reunions. At the moment the Motorhome cover is still in the shed and looks like staying there unless the snow comes..............
Iain Strachan Posted October 19, 2012 Posted October 19, 2012 End of season no, what is the point of investing all the money in a motorhome and not using it? Get out there and go enjoy yourself. Saves batteries going flat, water freezing etc. etc. Have a good time in your van all year round. Cheers Iain
johnnerontheroad Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Spain and Portugal after xmas only book one way so who knows after that :-D Dave
RogerC Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Wintering in the MH in the UK can be lovely.......great countryside covered in early morning frost or later on snow......a beautiful winter wonderland so we will be out and about for sure.

Slightly OT but does your insurance cover you to leave your MH unattended abroad as most I've come across don't. Something worth checking before you depart. Keith.

Plus you will need to make sure your travel insurance is OK as if you come back into the UK your insurance will stop and you will have to buy another policy ie. you take out a 90day policy and come back after 50days the policy is finished. terryW Posted October 26, 2012 Posted October 26, 2012 Couple of short breaks to see the family in the run up to Xmas then down to Spain in the New Year for our first open ended Spanish winter trip. We will be putting to the test that wealth of information gleened from this furum. 10 weeks 4 days 4 hours and 20 minutes to "D day". :->
Zydeco Joe Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Last two winters we have been down to Spain over Christmas and new year, could not stay too long but 6 weeks worked out fine for us. This coming winter we are looking at flying home for a week or so leaving van in Spain then flying back .Only Tugger's don't use their stuff over winter and that could be that over the winter period they are on the CC site booking all the places for the weekends on the best sites LOL. (lol)
