josie gibblebucket Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Just bought an "island plastics Romini" - unladen weight just 375kg! Built in 1986, one of only 200 made, it is just so cute - I had to have it!! We will still keep our old campervan, as we love that too, but now we will have the choice of which to take away. The only downside, the cost of having a towbar fitted to our car - very nearly £500 eek! :'(
Keithl Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 Josie, Did you know that Island Plastics was the earlier name for Romahome and their main business was GRP boat manufacture? They are based on the Isle of Wight, hence the 'Island' part of the name. I don't know anything about your Romini though I'm afraid. Keith.
josie gibblebucket Posted April 27, 2013 Author Posted April 27, 2013 Hi Keith, yes I did know about the Romahome connection and that they were boatbuilders. Quite a lot of history there I should think. Here is a pic. All of the furniture and fittings are part of the moulded fibreglass, giving it strength. Its totally original, doesn't even have a leisure battery! Can be towed by a motorbike as so light!!!
Guest pelmetman Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Looks in lovely nick Josie ;-)..............I've been thinking of buying something similar as a granny annex for taking the MIL away with us :D
