Just thought I'd drop by...

Hello everybody, to those of you who know me, I thought it was time to make an appearance.

I cleared off a couple of years ago as I had grown quite weary of the battles. So I followed my own advice and hit the I'm off button.

A quick update for those interested, my lovely part time role with Skoda sadly came to an end but I started almost immediately for BMW.

Did 2 years there until this Xmas and voted with my feet. I do about 10 - 12 days a month delivery work for a local florist, it's lovely and suits all parties.

Van wise, well just this weekend we've sold the Nuevo, easy peasy via eBay. We think we've identified the next one, a Bailey 740 but are not in any rush. Marry haste leisure spring to mind.

I hope you're all well

Martyn.

Hi, Martyn,

Welcome back -- I think that I must have missed your 'exit' note whilst I was in hospital -- I asked where you had gone on here a time or two -- but -- 'answer was there none' -- so very good to see your splendid Dali avatar again!

I ( and a choir ) are rehearsing/singing Faure's Requiem again for a concert in May -- do you remember your query on here that I was able to answer with reference to it?

Here's a reminder:-

Best wishes -- happy motorhoming -- looking forward to more posts from you in future!

Colin.

P.S. I've found the original thread!

Cheers,

It's a pity that you missed all the fun with Xxxxx Hughes and his alter egos a few months back, or possibly it's a good thing that you did miss all the fun with Xxxxx Hughes and his alter egos a few months back.

One of the problems with these Forums is that when folk stop posting no one really know why, or knows how to get in touch to ask, 'are you all right?'

So, welcome back.

Such nice words ftom you all and thank you. Colin, well done at digging up the Faure thread, you should be working for Microsoft...

Rog, Malc, Dave, Richard, Keith, Colin, Dave, Michael and Pauline it's nice to be back in the fold.

Keith, I'd heard something about the poor guy with the Bailey but not seen it until you popped the link on. Oh dear, I hope he's got it all sorted.

Head above parapet time but it won't put me off completely, after all, we all take a different perspective on these matters don't we?

Some doubtless would run a mile, others, well maybe a yard.

I'm thinking of posting a thread about our experiences received from the trade whilst looking for the next van, some have been so bad it beggars belief, particularly in the social media age of instant publicity.

The trouble is with these posts (for me anyway) is that some folk choose to get shirty, and veer away from the objectives of the thread, I.e. to information share.

Of course that's the downside of a public forum, heat & kitchen spring to mind :)

Martyn.

Michael, not looking at the shop obviously, but without doubt our favourite spot.

The shop is nicknamed Heather Trotts after the former BBC East Enders character, she's a real doppelganger.

No matter what we talk about, plan, plot you name it, we get drawn back there every year. It's going to be very odd though this year.

At worst no new van and at best, new van going to favourite spot and all the old routines changing to meet the new vans (and ours) needs.

Definitely happy days when a fellow forum user can be bothered to interrupt their holiday to take a picture :-D

Just found this view, it is a little larger and you can see quite clearly that the shop specialises in veg with a difference. In fact they positively guarantee that any barbeque you hold will go with a bang and that you will not have any problems at all lighting it.

Looks very nice. pity it is only open June to September, we are off hopfully in April to Spain, but have to be home in June, as grandaughter getting married. (1st of the seven GD,s second one probably getting married in 2015)

we found last year that a lot of French sites closed at the end of September, and we went end of Sept into October. We hope to try to get away early this September, while the sites are still open, so will bare this one in mind

That photo reminds me of a time, ( about 30 years ago) when I was on a site in Luxemburg.

I asked the site owner where the nearest garage was - and he said it was about thirty miles away and asked me what my problem was.

I told him I needed some petrol.

" Ah " he said - " you can get that just down the road at the cafe"

:-D
