tonyclaire
We think we have a fault with our fridge as the exhaust from the vent started smelling when on gas and after turning it off it doesn't appear to run on gas at all now. Can anyone recommend an approved gas engineer around Hampshire? We found MCEA (www.mobilecaravanengineers.co.uk) who are a nationwide organisation and wondered if anyone out there has used them and are they any more expensive because they are mobile? Keithl
Have you run out of gas by any chance? From experience the 'smell' of gas is always strongest just before it runs out as the stenching agent tends to settle in the cylinder. Keith.
tonyclaire
Unfortunately it's not that. It did seem to coincide with changing from propane to butane as we had just bought a new bottle in France. We went back on to propane and still smelt before it stopped working.
breakaleg
How old is your van, the dometic warranty is three years. even so, they have their own mobile engineers who carry spare parts. The number given to me by the dealer is: 01582494111 Might be worth calling them. Pete
EJB
My local mobile engineer is excellent, he is MCEA registered and up to date with all of his required qualifications. He charges £150 for a completely comprehensive habitation service. He also repaired our faulty 'fridge a couple of years ago.
Dave225
I assume it is actually the fridge. Do other items work on gas? There have been problems of pigtail pipes blocking with gunge over time. I do not know the make of your fridge but some of them can be a real pain to remove if that is the only way to get to the burner. I would suggest you ensure any engineer is fully conversant with fridges as many will of course tell you all sorts of things. I
mildi
Hi, Not sure where in Hampshire you are but I use http://www.caravansolutions.co.uk/ in Romsey. They are a Dometic service centre and are excellent. Great customer service, honest and not stupidly expensive.
