Well its confirmed for certain that we will only have a maximum of 90 days in Europe which of course will be recorded electronically it seems.

Trouble is though with the routes to the ferries choked and people maybe deciding to give Europe a swerve its going to get pretty crowded in the UK if you do decide to explore more of your green and pleasant land. Best get those CC sites for 2020 booked now. Christ! Thats a depressing thought. I think there should be an express lane for Remainers at Dover.

Just booked here in Spain from October next year to April 2020 ;-) .............

I'll let you know if they kick me out :D ...........As the Spanish plod know exactly who is here 8-) ........

Also the 90 day limit should only apply to Brexiters.

Perhaps we should be made to wear a yellow star to identify us ? *-) ..........

I think at the moment no one knows? We have a holiday cottage near Limoges and for the last five years we have driven down to it in our Motorhome around October, after a while as it gets cooler made out way down to the Med then followed the coast on down to Portugal. As the weather improves we make our way back up to the cottage. We have our dog with us. Inspite of making Enquiries about pet passport/returning to the UK, no clear info was given about what would happen. So as long as the sun comes up, it doesn't rain too much, I'll worry about the rest of it when I have too.

So the axe has finally started to fall, and doubtless it will be a long swing before the final cut is made! Up till now we spend 8 to 9 months outside the UK, and having invested in a new van, want to continue to do so. Our right of travel has been a given for so many years that this will be hard to take. We have a property in Spain, pay all our non resident taxes, and are in the "system" so a residency should not be too much problem. Tax is heavier, as it is in a lot of Euro member countries, but at least we will retain that right to travel, albeit curtailed to having 6 months in the UK, and private health required when at "home". Having been "under the radar" (yet the authorities, I am sure know we are here) it's maybe time to come in from the cold and reside "legally" where we spend most time!

How will you know who the remainers are ?

:-|

Why would there be need to "know"?

Surely when it comes to such a serious matter, folk would just have the strength of their own convictions and would therefore just stick to the lane that was designated for which ever way they had voted?...

...wouldn't they? (lol)

Bit ironic really that a chatterbox regular who spends years banging on about illegal immigrants is going to become one. Good luck with that.

Your comment, even tongue in cheek, is in poor taste, and furthermore identifies you as a character with whom I would not wish to be associated.

I suggest you retract it.

I don't understand , why people are bothered about this ! We traveled around BEFORE joining. So whats the problem likely to be? Ok more paper work no doubt , but I am all for more border control, even if it takes a bit more time

We are all going to die sometime ! Do you think about that!

Dear Pelmetman. Your reply does not surprise me, indeed it reinforces the unsavoury picture you paint of yourself through your attention-seeking posts.

I’m reminded of the advice ‘never wrestle with a pig,-you both get covered in dirt, but the pig enjoys it’.

But here goes anyway.

Presumably you are aware that your reference to wearing a yellow star alludes to the compulsion by the Nazis of the European Jewish community to have that emblem sewn on their clothes to mark them out and de-humanise them. We all know how that ended,- unless you’re a holocaust denier, of course.

My father-in-law and his two brothers, being Jewish, had to escape occupied France in 1940 and got out of Gibraltar on an overcrowded Collier, eventually arriving in UK.

He became a navigator on Lancasters and miraculously survived his tours but not before being wounded in a night-fighter attack and being grounded.

Another brother was on convoy duty in Corvettes in the North Atlantic until demobbed.

The third brother was in the North African campaign in the infantry. All three survived. But their extended family of elderly relatives and friends were not so fortunate. The Nazis were superb record keepers, and their names and final destinations to the extermination camps are well documented in ledgers captured after the war.

So forgive me if I find you flippant and crass with your comment(s), it’s just, oh, I don’t know, I have a sense of humour by-pass when I see that by making fun of something so terrible in our history you hope for a cheap laugh.

Hope this helps.

Thanks...... it helps me understand why your so sensitive ;-) .........

So forgive me if I refuse to allow the actions of a bunch of unsavory Socialists prevent me from having an opinion :-| ..........

Hope this helps.......after all freedom of speech is partly what your family and mine fought for? :-S .......

Slightly off tack from tonight's news but finally the official line of how we stand for travel in the EU post Brexit. Its been argued on many motorhome forums that all this stuff about losing the EHIC or only being allowed 90 days was simply "project fear" but here it is in black and white (With a bit of blue and gold).

https://ec.europa.eu/info/sites/info/files/brexit_files/info_site/travelling.pdf

Here are the facts. Summary below of key points (Main ones that should concern us in bold)

- Passports must be valid for three months AFTER the intended departure date from the EU member state. Therefore if you cannot give evidence of your departure date you will need 6 months validity on entry.

- For short stay visitors (tourism and business visits where you are not taking paid employment in the EU) you can only stay 90 days in every 180 day period.

If you are a frequent short stay visitor this will result in a complex calculation to work out how many days you have remaining before you travel so you can convince the border guard that you are leaving before your entitlement is up.

- You cannot use the EU lane at Passport Control anymore. You must use the 'all other countries' lane (along with the Russians, Chinese etc.).

- You will be subjected to a such greater set of questions regarding the nature of your visit including where you are staying, your method of travel, whether you have the financial means to support yourself and return home.

- You will be subjected to exit checks to record your date of departure and ensure you didn't overstay.

- As a short stay visitor you won't need a full Visa, but when ETIAS is introduce you will need to pre-authorise your travel online.

- If you are a resident in the EU or are employed there you will need to show your proof of residence and will need a full long-stay Visa.

- Reduced duty free allowances will apply (implementation may be delayed by transition period / customs union).

- EU Pet Passport validity dependent on whether EU 'lists' the UK as meeting animal health guarantees

- European Firearms passes no longer valid

- A Green Card insurance document will be required to prove you have car insurance cover. International Driving Permits will be required. UK Disabled Parking badges will not be valid in the EU.

- EHIC no longer valid and you will require medical insurance.

- UK citizens cannot seek assistance from EU27 consulates.

- EU compensation for travel delays no longer valid on UK carriers (but interestingly will on an EU carrier)

- No longer any EU limits on interchange fees charged for payment card transactions

- No longer any protection on Roaming charges or ability to access UK bought internet content whilst in the EU

There you go fellow Brexiteer Motorhomers. I hope you enjoy losing all your rights when in the EU and the fact you inflicted this on the rest of us. And enjoy flicking through your blue passports whilst you languish in thirty mile queues but dont forget to leave plenty of time mid winter to return home from Spain when your 90 days is up. I am sure there will be plenty of EU member campers ready to take over your pitch.

...Is there a slow hand clap icon?

No, but the icon to the left of a thread’s ‘Subject’ in the thread-listing can have a ‘Thread Frozen’ indicator added to it.

I’m going to freeze this thread now. It’s become never-ending and Pelmetman’s ‘yellow star’ comment was deliberately offensive.
