At the end of the calendar year 2016, UK government gross debt was £1,731.4 billion (89.3% of GDP). This represents an increase of £65.4 billion since the end of the calendar year 2015. Back at the time of the French Revolution, the British Monarchy and Establishment were getting worried they might be overthrown as well, They had secret gun platforms built around London on high buildings like the British Museum to fire down on to the crowds below.
