Reverting to the original topic, on the basis that there has never been a year that the EEC / EU gave us benefits adding up to more than the contibutions we gave them, one may well ask what the EU has done for us?

What indeed one may well ask, that we couldn't have done for ourselves with the taxation we all paid had we spent it on ourselves rather than given it to the EU?

Well in my area they did provide funds to renovate properties in a fairly large Muslim area about 20 years ago ... At a guess I'd say about 200 houses ... Should've saved their/our money its a sh!thole now ...

This link shows funding amounts made and for what in any locality. Copy 'n paste the amounts and purpose it funded so we can see.

https://www.myeu.uk/

Sorry ... WTF you on about ???

1) Open this link > https://www.myeu.uk/

2) Put town area in search bar.

3) Click search button....thats the little thing like a magnifying glass at the right.

4) Map then shows a number of coloured buttons.

5) Click on any one to show funding amount and purpose.....eg Works Better (Jobs and Growth) 2017–2020 The EU provided Kirklees Council with £2,644,959 to fund 50% of this project.

6) If any "EU funds to renovate 200 properties 20 years ago" were paid out, it will show on there and you can copy 'n paste to show on here.....like i just did with the figure to Kirklees.

I wonder how much of OUR MONEY the EU wastes on telling us how well they spend OUR MONEY? >:-) .........

You turned that old tub into an echo chamber now?

Will this strange 'concern' of yours for what you call "our money" extend to ensuring you deliver on that £350m a week to the NHS? To read such drivel being spouted from someone who spends his time sitting on a campsite in an EU country getting drunk on EU plonk every day is more than just a tad ironic, not to mention hypocritical. *-)

If all we were to know is what we had, personally, experienced, we'd have the information base of mediaeval peasants! Fortunately, things have moved on a bit since those times. Come on, put 'em up!

The means of acquisition of information was never in dispute Brian, but what you overlooked was the cherry picking of news snippets that only ever support one side of a debate - to be expected of course by those who support that view - but cherry picking nontheless!

True, but human nature, surely! :-D

What disappoints me is when the cut and paste snippets aren't credited (or better, provided via a link), and when the response is dismissive - on the basis that the source must be biased because of where it came from - rather than engaging with the drift of the argument and challenging it - even if by reference to other cut and paste snippets (same caveat! :-)).

So, what is the EU budget for, and why do we contribute?

What and why indeed, well you might ask!

Well, it seems no-one else has a view, so I'll explain what I think it is for.

First, it is to cover the cost of running the EU, but also of negotiating, and upholding, the various trade deals between the EU and others, as well as developing and upholding the legal framework that binds 28 states to trade and deal with each other in a fair and reasonable way.

Second, it recognises that there is considerable divergence between the degree of economic development between those 28 member states, so there is then a deliberate intention to fund infrastructure (in the broadest sense) development in those less economically developed countries, in order to increase their access to the single market and facilitate the growth of their economies. The intention is to increase their rate of economic growth to allow them to catch up with the more developed economies, on the basis that by making them richer, we all get richer. So, it is represents a long term investment that allows the whole of the EU economy to grow faster than if they were merely riding on the coat tails of the richest.

Quite a bit of our money has gone into that investment pot, and when we leave it will have to be written off before we get to enjoy the benefit. That, among many other aspects of Brexit, seems a shame and a waste.

Much of the country has been enjoying the benefit of uncontrolled migration, wage suppression caused by the influx of cheap labor, foreign criminals, pressures on our services NHS, housing, schools etc for over decade Brian *-) ........

But you're spending it outside of the UK, a country you claim to feel such patriotism for yet go off to spend in a country which is a member of the EU you so despise. Can you not see the utter hypocrisy in that? Even our Belgian lady poster saw through that and questioned it.

And after boasting on here about being a benefits scrounger at one time, you've got some brass neck to bang on about "tax payers money" and "our money". *-)

And who was to blame for that? NOT the EU as your Brexit campaigners led you to believe, but our own government. It better suited the Brexit narrative of whipping up xenophobia so they fed you the lies and you swallowed it.....because that appealed to the xenophobes and racists.

From memory i believe Brian posted this a while back. Unfortunately there isn't any pictures and a fair bit of reading....but it will do you good to start learning for once.

Sorry Pelmet but i'm afraid your obvious political bias won't cut that as UK Governments were responsible as that article makes the time frame it covers very clear.

It's ok to admit it now.....you swallowed the myth about the EU being to blame when that was totally dishonest. Brexit campaigners and promoters pulled the xenophobia and racist card knowing full well you lot would dance to that....and you did,

You've got to stop blame shifting each time something not fitting your narrative rears it's head. It doesn't put you BluKippers in a very good light at all.

We didn't need to be members of the EU to get blue passports.....which is about all you've achieved so far other than totally dividing and wrecking the country throwing thousands of people out of work. Had we wanted to keep the old 'retro' colour passport, we could have done.

Sooo......"take back control" eh? (lol)

Are you ready to buy back all rail franchises 70% of which are owned by errr....Germany, France, Netherlands, Italy. https://www.rmt.org.uk/news/70-of-uk-rail-routes-now-owned-by-foreign-states/ Then there's Royal Mail - Germany, Power - Germany, Italy and Spain.

That's assuming any even want to sell and if so, who could blame 'em for hiking up the price? And just that little lot would be in the multi billions or even trillions which would heap further misery and austerity on 90% of the UK population.

So your "take back control" is something of a joke and just another silly Brexsh1t slogan parroted by dreamers and fantasists.

Not only that but so far EU immigration has gone down, None EU has gone up to match it. India, China, Turkey all want free movement of people for a trade deal.

Sounds like a massive own goal to me if your a Brexiteer who wanted to get rid of immigrants.

Look on the plus side though. Decent Kebab shops, maybe some authentic Indian and Chinese Cuisine. That sounds a bit racist, is that racist? Racial profiling / stereotyping maybe. Apologies to our ethnic members (I heard Antony was black the other day).

Freedom of movement is one of the rights i've enjoyed, respected and cherished over the years. You want to end that....but not for yourself who connive and dodge to do everything to overstay in Spain ignoring UK regulations, a blatant hypocrisy i cannot accept.

FOM doesn't give "free access" to benefits either despite the rubbish that scummy rag you've always got your head in says. As a third country national he wouldn't be entitled to benefits.

Instead of continually taking threads off topic when faced with an awkward question will you now address the point i made to you in a previous post which you ignored? You said you want to "take back control" so i posed the following for you;

Sooo......"take back control" eh?

1 Yes, Bave, Blair and not the EU.

2 I'm happy with the conclusion.

3 I'm speechless! :-D A UK government (not the EU) decision caused our immigration problem. So now we should "take back control". To control what, that they couldn't have controlled before, had they chosen so to do? How would leaving the EU remedy that. Does not compute! :-D

Not only that but so far EU immigration has gone down, None EU has gone up to match it. India, China, Turkey all want free movement of people for a trade deal.

Sounds like a massive own goal to me if your a Brexiteer who wanted to get rid of immigrants.

Faridge whipped up the racist element with his "Breaking Point" poster of brown folks and left the Vote Leave/BeLeave/LeaveEU and the motley bunch of splinter groups to pump out the xenophobia over 'funny foreigners'. Chuck in a few snappy slogans for good measure and they were hooked....look at 'em, they're still parroting that silly "take back control" tripe even now. They've been brainwashed.

I see we're getting to keep another one of your mates ;-) ..........

I don't know any criminals so no idea what on earth you post that for. Perhaps you want to discuss the brutal murder of this young man too which has as much relevance to the thread topic as the link you posted? Nope...thought you wouldn't as the killers are white British so won't suit your vile xenophobic agenda.

He's one of those folk you Remoaners are so keen to ensure has free access to the UK and its benefits is it not? >:-) .........

Instead of continually taking threads off topic when faced with an awkward question will you now address the point i made to you in a previous post which you ignored? You said you want to "take back control" so i posed the following for you;

Sooo......"take back control" eh?

Incorrect again Dumb Dumb *-) ........

I want to end the right for low life to have freedom of movement across the EU ;-) .......

If the EU prefers to let CRIMINALS have free movement rather than TOURISTS like me then they're as THICK AND STUPID AS YOURSELF!!!!!! >:-) ........

Then that means you too. You cannot cherry pick on freedom of movement and calling yourself "a tourist" is a misnomer when you're an illegal.....like you. Why do you keep SHOUTING personal insults when throwing your toys out of your pram? Be a good boy and behave. Pick your toys up.

As you were unable to address the points i raised in italics in that post, perhaps you will give point 3) on Brians post a try.
