(something like 78% of employees are paid monthly.) First problem is that most people are skint when they apply, and don't have the money to last 5 weeks. Even if their claim is dealt with efficiently which it usually isn't. And because Universal Credit is one payment for everything, when their benefits aren't paid they lose them all in one fell swoop. Created many cases of very serious hardship ...evictions... homelessness..hunger.. etc Protests have become so overwhelming Finally the Government has listened. They now give out advance payments as soon as a claim is made before checking. The scammers and fraudsters are going into overdrive with it.
