Earthmover
Hi ,! Anyone know a supplier of suitable tow bars for a ducato, that come galvanised. Painted ones never seem to last in a tidy condition for long Cheers Em.
ColinM50
Why not have your towbar galvanised separately? There's loads around that'll do it. Had a boat anchor chain done a few years ago and it was dead easy. Here you are, take your pick https://www.galvanizing.org.uk/find-a-galvanizer/
Keithl
Or have it powder coated. I had my TowTal towbar shot blasted and powder coated white around ten years ago and it still looks really good. I think if it had been galvanised it would look a bit 'industrial'. The reason dedicated towbar manufacturers use such poorly lasting paint products is they typically manufacture, paint and fit a towbar as a 'same day service' so the painting process has to be quick to apply and more importantly to dry. This 'same day service' rules out galvanising or powder coating. Keith.
Derek Uzzell
I’m pretty sure that Sawiko-branded towbars for Ducato panel vans are hot-dipped galvanised. The photos on Pages 06/07 on the following link appear to confirm this https://www.sawiko.com/sites/default/files/uploaded_files/499758_sawiko_broschuere_2019_en.pdf
Earthmover
Hi Colinm50, Thanks for the reply, I am thinking that is the way to go, I use a local galvanisers weighbridge To weigh motorhome. Regards Em.
Earthmover
Hi Keith, I have used towtal several times for towbars, never been impressed with paint finish they provided Which you dare not touch for week after!. The last one, i got about ten miles from home and ran in to road regritting exercise which was three miles long with the traffic led through in convoy, it shot blasted the back of the tow bar!!. Not Towtal's fault of course. Cheers Em.
Earthmover
Thankyou Derek, That's what was looking for, looks pricey, will have to look at which Will work out best one of those or buy one and have it galvanised. There won't be a lot in it cost wise????. Plus fitting.
