johnfromnorfolk Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Bit of a shock for Norfolk mototorhomers. Becks motorhomes have announced that from 1/12/2020 they have ceased trading. All staff made redundant and all parts on order cancelled. They were the main Hymer dealer in the area. https://www.becksmotorhomes.com/
fesspark Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 How sad I found them probably the best dealer that I had dealt with, I bought our Burstner Nexxo from them And they always bent backwards to get any problems sorted by a local dealer to us as we are based in Devon They will be sadly missed, fesspark
Keithl Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 Yep, I saw it here this morning and wondered if it would affect any forum members. https://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/motorhomes/news/motorhome-dealer-becks-motorhomes-ceases-trading Keith.
Bulletguy Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 A video celebrating their 50th year in business, founder Donald Beck said, "we've 50 years behind us and many more ahead". Little did he know then but unfortunately they only had four more years. :'( Only two of the six franchises they held were British built vans.
charleydog Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Why? I thought that motorhomes were selling like hotcakes. And if this company is as good to deal with as forum members say,Again...why? (?)
AED Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Wow, I spoke to them just recently regarding a brand new motorhome. They could not supply what I was asking without a long wait. There could be some buyers out there that have paid a large deposit and of course even by credit card it is only returned if the total cost is under ( I believe £30 k ) Most new mhs are over that limit, mine was. Phew, we don`t need stuff like that on top of everything else. Let`s hope no-one has got their fingers burnt. Alan
EJB Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 It's reported elsewhere that it is a family matter and the site is being cleared for redevelopment. Their accounts have always shown good results over the years.
Grumpyman Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Not surprised they could have been less interested if they tried when I was looking to purchase a new motorhome. Went to Simpsons who were totally a different kettle of fish most helpful and welcoming so they received my order. Also there after sales has been very good.
colin Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 Bulletguy - 2020-12-03 7:11 PM "we've 50 years behind us and many more ahead". Little did he know then but unfortunately they only had four more years. :'( And he only had three years to live, which may be the reason they have ceased trading. I see on WC that someone has been sent a insurance backed policy for remainder of warrantee, so it looks like customers are being sorted.
Derek Uzzell Posted December 5, 2020 Posted December 5, 2020 https://wildcamping.co.uk/threads/becks-gone.84132/ (As an O&AL forum Moderator, I’ve no objection to forum-members providing links to other forums.)
HymerVan Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Whilst ultimately the reason for Becks closure is none of my business, from the available information I would guess that they have ceased trading for personal reasons (which of course may have a financial element). There appears to be no indication of insolvency.
