No. ( Why on earth would Keir Starmers opinion change anyones' mind ? ) .......and IF any of his trips are "essential " ( which this one clearly wasn't ) - he certainly doesn't need a camera team with him every time. Does this not persuade anyone that Boris’s trip to Scotland was a reasonable thing to undertake? Not me, and judging from a discussion about the matter on a programme earlier today, neither do most people. At best it was bad judgement and that's being very kind! Whilst the nation has been told to stay indoors, work from home, with no non-essential travel, Johnson jets off up to Scotland on a jolly. and Patel goes off walking around a town 40 miles away for a chat with a Chief Constable and a Tory MP. Lead by example? Neither are 'leaders' and both set very bad examples. This is why we get students doing daft things like organising snowball fights......but they both got fined £10k each. Using that as benchmark for fine levels we should be fining Johnson and Patel £100k for their breach of lockdown law.

Mikey
If that is the case why not encourage Scotland to be Independent and not take all your money? . It would appear the Westminster Government are pulling out all the stops including the creation by Gove of the Anti-Independence Department to hold control of Scotland? In 2014 many promises were made and never materialised. Similar to Brexit it would appear. However getting back to Non essential travel it would appear Rees-Mogg made a little speech in HoC which failed to defend Johnston's trip. Either way both did not make a case for the Union. In the Civil Service they call it 'Empire Building' The bigger the Department you are in charge of, the bigger your status and pay grade. Hence BoJo bribing Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland with your money to maintain his empire at your expense :-S BoJo's reputation here is such that the polls show the majority would forgo your £billions to get rid of him. Brian Kirby
We're well off topic now, but what does Scottish independence really mean? What is the Ambition; total severance, or partial? If partial, what is to remains unite, and what separated? Full fiscal autonomy with its own currency, or does it want to retain the Pound? If the latter, its national bank would be in England. Awkward? Is that independence? How might the border work, especially if Scotland applied to join the EU? What defence capability does it envisage? At £6.2 billion a pop, I don't foresee too many aircraft carriers being on the shopping list! Arguably not necessary, but military kit is extremely expensive, and prone to destruction/damage if used in anger - which, whisper it not - is what it is ultimately for.
