We're well off topic now, but what does Scottish independence really mean? What is the Ambition; total severance, or partial?

If partial, what is to remains unite, and what separated?

Full fiscal autonomy with its own currency, or does it want to retain the Pound? If the latter, its national bank would be in England. Awkward? Is that independence?

How might the border work, especially if Scotland applied to join the EU?

What defence capability does it envisage? At £6.2 billion a pop, I don't foresee too many aircraft carriers being on the shopping list! Arguably not necessary, but military kit is extremely expensive, and prone to destruction/damage if used in anger - which, whisper it not - is what it is ultimately for.

Doesn't it have 4 nuclear submarines.

They don't actually need an army its difficult enough to stop people leaving.

The biggest problem is they spend more than they get in revenue.

Oh , i don't think having a referendum is a problem with all UK taking part.

It could be quite a problem if we have a referendum and the English vote is for Scotland to go - and the Scottish vote is to stay.

:-|

Good point, perhaps then ask the EU.

What about ?

;-)

1 Not that I'm aware of. There are 4 at Faslane, but they are British, not Scottish, and I can't somehow see HMG giving them away.

2 :-D

3 Yes, and I think they'd find it difficult to maintain that in independence.

1) Scotland could charge the Sassenachs a parking fee, unless we moved them to some English port.....and that wouldn't be popular as not many folk want nuclear bombs sat in their backyard!

3) Oil is the main reason England doesn't want Scotland to have independence. It's history now but Scotland know how we screwed them over big time with oil and with what's left, the tables would turn. I remember years ago touring Scotland and being shocked at the pump price which was way above even the most expensive village garage in England. Pump price in London was absolute peanuts.

Bridgewater? Due for decommissioning next year when the French get the other Hinkley online and start raking in the money from us proles. Taking back control and all that stuff eh? (lol)

You need to get your house lead lined to guard against all those nuclear biowaves which can seriously mess with your gut biome. :D

Taking back control isn't one of my catch lines it's more ...get rid of Brussels... But they seem to be doing the job themselves very well.

I'm not against foreign investment.

Now back to your gut , i hope you're eating less carbs and more fruit and veg .Carbs like Pizza and Pasta not good for your gut.

Stay safe...look after your gut.

A puny little bloke with funny moustache tried 81 years ago. He committed suicide and Brussels remains. B-)

unless we moved (Nuclear Subs) to some English port.

My understanding is

English ports are not deep enough for the subs to go in and out underwater and invisible.

They have to go on the surface, making themselves visible.

Which defeats the whole point of a military submarine.

There's Devonport in Plymouth and another sub base at Portsmouth but you'd be better off keeping 'em parked up at Faslane and billing England!

Have you ever been to Scotland? The Subs at Faslane arrive and depart on the surface with an escorting Frigate.
