We used a procedure that is contained in EU law to approve vaccines independently from the EMA's approval procedure. We could have done that whether or not we had remained in the EU, and whether or not we had remained within the EMA. Leaving the EU made no difference to that whatever. That has been explained to you ad nauseam. What might actually have happened if we'd remained in either is pure speculation but, in either case, we could have done exactly as we actually did. Apart from the zealot grime on your bins, what on erath is preventing you understanding that simple fact? I hate to say this, Dave but Johnson has made a career from lying, in one way or another. That is a matter or public record, not a casual allegation. The main criticisms of Johnson since Covid have not related to the truthfulness of his statements, but to the desultory performance of his government in dealing with Covid. It has been slow and reluctant to act, premature in relaxing the eventual controls, confusing over which measures apply where, and when. It is supposed to be a cabinet, all singing from the same hymn sheet. There is no sense that they have all been at the same meeting, in the same metaphorical room, at the same time. They are a complete shambles. Those are the failings. Getting the vaccine approval and orders right is a highly creditable achievement, but the sheer scale of the problem those vaccines are expected to compensate for is the result of their multiple failings elsewhere. And yet, you rush forth to praise the broken clock for being right once every 12 hours! You held forth the EU and its institutions as the spawn of the devil before we left, and you now have to comb the world for others who have fared worse than the UK in handling the virus, to make the UK's performance look better. Pre-Brexit, you and your fellow travellers conjured John O'Gaunt's vision of England: "This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle, This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars, This other Eden, demi-paradise, This fortress built by Nature for herself Against infection and the hand of war, This happy breed of men, this little world, This precious stone set in the silver sea, Which serves it in the office of a wall Or as a moat defensive to a house, Against the envy of less happier lands,-- This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England." You could start reading it now and you might have just about finished by the next election. Of course you are right about the digging up of dirt. Its what the rags that tell you what to think do. If they cant find anything they will make it up and you of course will believe it. Whether Starmer wins the next election or not sadly will depend on whether they decide to back him or Johnson.
