Suffice to say that the civil servants who authorise the capital expenditure were so happy with the results, both in terms of jobs created/protected and regeneration that after their initial £2.8M they invested the £1.3M fourteen years later - under a Tory "value for money" regime. The only downside was having to hob knob with Prince Charles! You hark back to it so many times I can only put it down to petty jealousy, that your curtain business was not deemed worthy of investment by the very people you seem to worship. Besides the possibility of the Charlie visit was introduced after the scheme had finished, it kept the funders happy - you never know we might have wanted another slice in the future.
