Lukashenko needs dealing with. This is shaping up to be a real humanitarian crisis and Lukashenko is to blame. Somethings got to give, This is Europe not Iraq. I guess Lukashenko is counting on the EU persuading Poland to let them in so we can deal with them and that is probably what will happen. These poor people have been conned though. If they are from a state in Iraq that is stable they probably wont have grounds for Asylum anyway and are just suffering misery as pawns in Lukashenko's retaliation for sanctions, sanctions which were justly deserved.

It looks dreadful.

Yeah let the EU do another Merkel and let them in 8-) ..........

Like that solved the problem last time *-) ...........

What would you suggest then? Lukashenko has trafficked them here. How do you think he will respond in caring for them if Poland stands firm as Mr Birdbrain suggests? Its sub zero temperatures, there are women and small children, people are huddling together on the ground to stay alive at night and its only going to get worse. Do you suggest they just let them start dying?

Chances are most of them will get deported by the sound of it but they cant just leave them there to freeze to death. Is that what you want? If not lets hear your suggestions.

Belarus is clearly responsible for the welfare of these people, who they conned into thinking that Poland would let them in, but Belarus are very unlikely to look after any of them.

My guess is that Poland/ EU/ UN will set up a camp inside Poland where they can be taken care of until they are " processed " i.e. either allowed entry or returned home.

Getting a plane to land, and take off again, in a forest, is not at all "simple ".

You obviously haven't given that idea a lot of thought.

They managed to walk all the way to Polands border, Im pretty sure the liccle darlings could walk to an airport for a free plane ticket and bacon sarnie

Except they didn't.

Most people would have begun to understand by now that Putin is trying to destabilise the west.

But you and Pelmethead can't see the link between Russian oligarchs funding the Tories, Brexit and this latest little caper.

I can see you are struggling with this one Dave so I will explain.

Poland DOES have airports - but not in the forests at the border with Belarus, where the immigrants are.

So, to get them to a Polish airport, YOU would have to let them enter into Poland, to get to an airport.

Get it ?

Hopefully that is clear enough for you to follow - I don't want to have to explain why planes can't land in forests.

Got to feel sorry for those poor Polish security forces ... Simply doing their jobs and protecting their country from invaders and they come under attack from the women and children trying to break in ... https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/poland-turns-water-cannon-rock-throwing-migrants-border-2021-11-16/ ... I bet if it was Christian invaders trying to get into the countries those types on the border come from it would be more than water cannons being used ... Lordy My Boss

Ooooh look! Bang goes the theory that all these Asylum seekers are all young male chancers which is pretty much what Cruella Patel said.

Its official. Almost two thirds of them are genuine asylum seekers.

Damn, aren't facts just the most pesky of things? :-D

The Guardian article points out that the report uses Home Office information as its basis, and also states "According to the Home Office, 98% of people coming across the Channel apply for asylum." This rather contradicts Farage type claims that substantial numbers just "disappear" into the black economy. Seemingly, only 2% evade detection.

It goes on to quote the report findings as follows:

"The report shows that for Syrians, 88% are granted refugee status; for Eritreans the rate is 84%; for Sudanese and those from Yemen, 70%; for Iranians, 67%; for Vietnamese, 65%; for people from Kuwait Bidoun, 61%; and for Afghans, 56%.

If an asylum claim is refused by the Home Office at the initial decision stage, the applicant has a right of appeal to an independent tribunal. The report shows 59% of appeals are likely be allowed for the top 10 countries of origin, compared with 46% for appeals allowed for all countries. For example, 59% of appeals by Iranians are likely to be successful, as are 69% of Sudanese appeals and 73% of appeals by Syrians.

Enver Solomon, the chief executive of the Refugee Council, said: “The analysis contradicts the government’s narrative that people coming across the Channel are not refugees. The reality is that people who come to the UK by taking terrifying journeys in small boats across the Channel do so because they are desperately seeking safety having fled persecution, terror and oppression.

Patel is trying to ride two horses. First, the legal horse imposed on her by Parliament. Second the populist horse she rides to keep Dave and Antony happy. Going well, ain't it? (lol) (lol)

I've said it before and ill say it again. If someone is clever and brave enough to escape war zones, cross continents, perilous sea journeys in beach toys and then somehow make it to Calais and then paddle to England they must be made of stern stuff and ingenuity. Dave says we have thousands of job vacancies. Can you see where i am going with this? (lol)

I would say people like that are bound to make more of a success of post Brexit blighty than our average unemployed Brit who cant even be arsed to go pull a few cabbages.

LOL! This is based on home office data and freedom of information requests. Its a fair point though and I am surprised this corrupt government doesnt seem to have been able to spread its corruption tentacles deep enough (yet) to cover this one up.
