Truma pigtail

Hi

Just had our AT serviced and the engineer has stated that the pigtail is just over 5 years old. Thought I would get it replaced but when you go into various websites the date on the new pigtail is not in the details. Even some on EB that are stated new are already over 5 years old when you magnify the picture.

Why are they not dated ?? Even the CMC have not got the date in the description.

Any advice appreciated :-)

Derek

Truma's rupture protection hoses can be identified by a button near the end that connects to the gas bottle.

Historically the button was green (visible in your photo) and on this link

https://shop.caravanclub.co.uk/product/1030216/propane-hose-450mm-uk-with-rupture-protection

but evidently it's black on current hoses.

https://www.leisurespares.co.uk/brands/truma/gas-control-fittings-truma/truma-high-pressure-hoses

The date of manufacture is printed on the Truma hose and Truma advises a MAXIMUM service life of 10 years for these hoses, but UK servicing technicians may well prefer that the hose be replaced after 5 years.

This Dutch webpage goes into more detail

https://www.gimeg.nl/en-gb/technical-accessories/gas-technology/hoses/truma-hd-gas-hose-rubber-sbs-g8-eu-45-cm-5616350

(It's stating the obvious but, if the Truma hose is replaced with one lacking rupture protection, the Truma hose's safety functionality will be lost.)

Thanks for the useful replies, guess I have the HRP type…. Always wandered what that green button was for !?

Now how do you know how old the new one will be if they don’t “advertise” the date of manufacture on the product ?

Derek :-) :-)
