Are A-Class Hymer Models engine repair more expensive to repair because of limited access

Ah OK

Yes I know your engine quite well, It's the older model and not the OM 642. 6 cylinder we were referring to in previous posts. Yes your 5 cylinder is a very good engine capable of very high mileage with proper maintenance and that model is not that difficult either to remove the battery from the sprinter model with a little care and know how. Not great ergonomics though where the battery is situated especially within the A Class

It's such a pity the top end servicing of the A Class can be so difficult and resulting in extra high costs because of poor aces and I am informed not just down to Hymer or indeed Merc' engine  models

Thank you for your update

Hi All

Just an update , all six heater plugs replaced (easy removal, none stuck) and heater module and of course red turbine seal (very important , do not skimp on this) plus fuel filter . The job was not that difficult ,after the removal of the letterbox bonnet which  gave very little extra room but just enough. Yes about 2 hours extra over the normal Sprinter due to the poor access . Full reset on diagnostic and all working well for their new adventure this year abroad . Looks like the may keep it for a while yet. Thanks to everyone for their input and advice , It helped and was interesting to get all your views .

Regards

Brendan
