  1. I had taken out a subscription with my credit card some years ago.I received a notification in October that the payment was about to be taken from my card. But I have a new card (with the same company)so I thought I'll let that lapse and buy from Vicarious. Anyway the point is, if you start a DD with a credit card it follows you around and so the payment was taken off my new card.Luckily Vicarious allowed me to cancel and ACSI have cancelled the DD,which only they can do. Not sure if the DD would follow to a new company as both mine were Barclaycards but if they were both just Visa or Mastercard then it might.
  2. Thanks for all that real life info about the scheme. LV has always done a cheap/good price annual travel policy covers cruises, Egypt and Turkey. Premier is up to 90 days per trip. But I am dreading the increase next year now I am 70.................... it could be anything. As far as I can see the NFOP seems to be more price stable and not so much of an unknown as we get older. As said that's when the price tide will turn. Oh I think I've said all this before.............it's an age thing😒
  3. We get a good multi policy from LV but I guess that will start to climb up now I'm past 70.The NFOP looks as though it might keep to a steady inflation type increase beyond 74. If you have conditions it seems even better value.I understand as we get older no matter what as long as the doctor does not tell you not to travel ( when presumably you wouldn't want to anyway)the flat rate remains "steady" It's now £399 a couple
  4. Gave them a call and they no longer have the qualifying period.Flat rate travel insurance is I think £399 for a couple. But only 65 days per trip.It only runs from March to March so you lose out if you take it out part year. Only medical is that you have not been advised not to travel and I understand this can carry on if you take it out before age 74
  5. Just found out what NFOP stands for and I'm going to give them a try for insurance.Do you know if they allow 90 day trips.
  6. Just to update.....I was very keen on the IQ go deal as it was so flexible. It says you cannot do more than 3 months in EU "without use in the UK" BUT I asked them about qualifying usage in the UK and was told that you cannot use it for more than 3 months in EU in any 12 month period. So the "without use in the UK" is bit deceptive as it doesn't make any difference. My question is, how much must I use it back in the UK before I can do another 90 day trip later in the year. Is it days or data usage that counts. Thanks for your help Thanks for your mail. We permit 90 days out of 12 months to be used abroad. Is this yet another fair use deception hidden in the small print
  7. There are many youtube videos about dealing with scam callers but I really like This one
  8. So we need to get the definitive answer. It disconnects with a mobile (all networks ?) but what about landline to landline..................does that stay active for the very reasons you say.
  9. I think you are absolutely right about the hanging on the line scam...................in which case the advice is very misleading. In fact it encourages people to think they are following best advice and to do the wrong thing. I'll experiment by phoning a friend later.Or does anyone know for sure?
  10. I used the cheapo ELM 327 from ebay Just out of interest. I don't remember those lights flashing on beforehand, but it passed the MOT so I guess they must have done. Anyway they go on and then off correctly now, so no problem there. My confusion is the airbag light now stays on but only since the scan. Apparently showing an issue that wasn't there before. I'll get a proper scan done.
  11. Thanks for that offer.I'm sure I hadn't seen the ABS light or the airbag light at all before, but maybe I just missed them. Unfortunately now its awake the airbag light stays on. A fault can't have happened since I plugged in the OBD so the scan has created something that definitely wasn't there before. It doesn't read a fault with the airbag so it must be just the light.
  12. It's passed its MOT for the last 10 years. But as I say there are at least 5 that I've never seen lit before. At least now they are doing what they should be doing
  13. So I decided to do an OBD scan with the new bluetooth ELM327 scanner(first lesson............ if it ain't broke don't mess with it) As it went through the modules the appropriate lights for ABS. seatbelts, airbag, battery, oil etc flashed on. The scan reported no problems but now all those lights come on and then go off when starting the engine. Before it was only 2 or 3. Now I assume that is a good thing as they are performing the appropriate checks but I wonder if they were not doing the checks before and the scan has somehow awakened the modules. Or have some of the lights just been turned off as it is worrying to see about 10 lights come on. So any answers or speculation welcome. How many warning light flash on before you start your Ducato? (ours is 2009)
  14. Thanks for that reference Derek. So no mention of 7 pin socket electrics only 13 pin.Time to downgrade I think.
  15. There is no power getting to the 13 pin socket towbar socket and we have an MOT due next week. We only ever use it for the bike rack and that only need 7 pins.So I am thinking to change the socket down to 7 pins.I have read in a few places that only the 13 pin is subject to electrical testing and the 7 pin is just checked for security. Does anybody have any references to this so I can show the tester if needed. And while we're at it, does anyone have any thoughts on why no power to any of the pins.I have no idea if it is fused or where I can check the connections.
