So Remoaners didn't lie when they said we'd have an immediate recession ? *-) ..........

No Dave, that is just you, when you repeatedly misquote what was actually said. Show me where the word "immediate" was used in any of the actual forecasts. First, we have to know the terms on which we shall leave (if we do), then we'll see how the rest of the world reacts, and then we'll see how much of a recession follows.

Remarkable really how a few right wing politicians and tax exiled 'newspaper' owners have managed to convince so many people whats in their own interest (avoiding tax and controlling the country for their own ends) is in the public interest too.

Judging by antony's comments I think they must have done it by pandering to the worst of human instincts - their prejudice against foreigners for example. They need to create an enemy to blame and rouse the rabble against - with Hitler it was the Jews. :-(

How many right wing Tory politicians have caused genocide? ;-) ........

None.............

There will always be those unable to see they are enabling history to repeat itself by following the rhetoric of a crazed despot and there is something psychologically sick with people who refer to human beings as 'vermin', 'rats', 'dogs' and 'cockroaches'. It also displays an intense personal insecurity about themselves. Bad enough from individuals.....totally unacceptable and highly dangerous from anyone leading a country.

Thankfully others are able to see this and speak out......just as some did during the rising tide of Fascism and Nazism.

Andrew Stroehlein, European media director at the US-based Human Rights Watch, said Shah's statement was "disturbing" and reminded of a "path to genocide".

Did I misquote this?????????? :-S ...........

"Leaving the European Union would tip the UK into a year-long recession, with up to 820,000 jobs lost within two years, Chancellor George Osborne says.

Publishing Treasury analysis, he said a Leave vote would cause an "immediate and profound" economic shock, with growth between 3% and 6% lower."

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36355564

I know you've been away Brian ;-) .........But did you buy a special EU selective memory whilst you were there? 8-) .........

Coz I'd take it back because it's obviously cheap EU crap (lol) .........

No doubt you'll come back with ......"We haven't left yet"..........? :D ........

The devil is, as ever, in the detail and, as ever, you've not read the detail! :-D

Here's a quote from the linked article:

"Reality Check verdict: The Treasury analysis gives two scenarios, described as "shock" and "severe shock". Both point to a recession in the short term, but in the case of the lesser "shock" scenario, while there would be an impact on the economy, the predicted recession would be very mild and well within the bounds of forecasting uncertainty.

The Treasury has released its analysis of the short-term effects of a vote to leave the European Union - that's what would happen in the two years after 23 June.

And it's not pretty - the Treasury predicts that economic growth would decline, wages would be lower than if we'd stayed in and house prices would fall.

If you're prepared to be influenced by economic modelling (read our Reality Check on the subject here) then there is a simple message, which is that in the first two years, a vote to leave the EU would be a considerably bad thing for the economy.

If you want to go a bit further into the figures, there is more to say.

The Treasury no longer does economic forecasts - that job has now been given to the independent Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).

What the Treasury is doing is what it calls scenario analysis, which is taking what would happen if we stayed in the EU as a base-line and then considering what the impact would be were we to leave.

So all the figures you see today are not how much worse things would be than they are today. They are how much worse things will be in two years if we leave the EU, than they would have been if we stayed in.

'That's a recession'

The Treasury has modelled two scenarios, the "shock" and the "severe shock" scenarios.

The shock scenario is what it reckons would happen if the country decided to negotiate a bilateral agreement to cover its relationship with the EU. The severe shock scenario is what would happen if we decided to trade as just another World Trade Organisation member, with no special relationship with the EU.

The Chancellor said in his speech: "Within two years the size of our economy - our GDP - would be at least 3% smaller as a result of leaving the EU - and it could be as much as 6% smaller."

"We'd have a year of negative growth - that's a recession."

But that doesn't mean it will be smaller than it is now, it means it will be smaller than it would have been had we stayed in.

If you compare that with the OBR's forecast for what will happen to the economy over the next couple of years (assuming we stay in) it turns out that under the shock scenario, in the first four quarters after the vote to leave, the economy would contract by 0.1% every quarter.

A recession is when you get at least two consecutive quarters (three month periods) in which the economy gets smaller. So that would be a recession, but not by very much. It would be well within the degree of uncertainty surrounding this sort of economic analysis.

Under the severe shock scenario, the expected contraction would be much more severe: - 1% in the first quarter and -0.4% in the following three quarters, before registering negligible growth in the following year.

The same may be done with other predictions in the report.

So, as you can see, it was Osborne wot said it, and he has a history degree, not an economics degree.

Second, the figures were published by the treasury, but not compiles by them. I suggest using the OBR forecast - that it prepares - rather than what the present editor of the Evening Standard said when David Cameron's (who?) Chancellor. Surprising what such a forthright, upstanding, right wing Conservative Chancellor is prepared to say to try to get his own way, isn't it? You didn't believe anything else that Osborne said, did you? :-D

OTOH, what I said was "Show me where the word "immediate" was used in any of the actual forecasts." See, details, details! It wasn't, it was that well known history graduate and newspaper editor George "Gobber" Osborne.

Good post ... We can also apply your words to the dangers of Corbyn , Labour , Momentum and the left and only need look back at recent history to see why a Corbyn Government would be a dreadful place for many in our society , mainly our terrified Jewish community ... Regarding POTUS Trump and your history of warnings over POTUS Trump I would suggest you maybe stay quiet on the subject for a while as your credit rating has slumped faster than Venezuelas inflation has shot up . As for the "terrorist line" where did I say that fell under the definition of dehumanisation Princess if thats what ya mean

Hi,

How many of you are in the AA, RAC, or some other rescue organisation?

How would you react if those organisations had charged you extra for membership, because you can afford it ... and then wanted to charge you more if you tried to leave?

So you decide to stay a member, leading them to regard you as LMF, and therefore a candidate for paying increased subs for a reduced service next year.

But secretely, you are made of sterner stuff, and will exert your right to be heard at the next AGM ... which you have never done before. Maybe you will decide to elect a more active delegate. Can you name your MEP? I can't.

Maybe the EU should realise that the goal posts have moved, and ask themselves if they really want people like us in THEIR club.

wanted to charge you more if you tried to leave?

That is not what the EU is doing.

The EU is only asking us to keep our word and pay what we have already agreed to pay.

Renenging on that would not be a good start to further negotiations with the EU or anyone else.

If it's good enough for the leader of the EU Merkels Germany to ignore the EU rules more than any other country then I would say it's good enough for little old Blighty

Hi,

How many of you are in the AA, RAC, or some other rescue organisation?

How would you react if those organisations had charged you extra for membership, because you can afford it ... and then wanted to charge you more if you tried to leave?

602

But if you have taken out a mortgage on a house and agreed to pay it all back - and then decide after some years that you don't like the house - and move out - you can't just stop paying.

Some of the money that we will have to pay is towards the cost of projects that we agreed to help pay for.

You really should view that clip i posted then you might just start learning and be able to post credible debate. Jon Danzig explained this very well on that clip.

Dehumanising people is the first step to genocide......and the right wing extremism you revere so much has been busily dehumansing with it's vile rhetoric. Even prompting the Torygraph to run this article. The least you could do is try and read that as uncomfortable as it must be for you.

If you won't read either of those links (incidentally that's what citation means) i posted or watch the clip, then at least understand the dictionary definition.

https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/dehumanization

DEHUMANIZATION: One group denies the humanity of the other group. Members of it are equated with animals, vermin, insects or diseases. Dehumanization overcomes the normal human revulsion against murder. At this stage, hate propaganda in print and on hate radios is used to vilify the victim group. The majority group is taught to regard the other group as less than human, and even alien to their society. They are indoctrinated to believe that “We are better off without them.” The powerless group can become so depersonalized that they are actually given numbers rather than names, as Jews were in the death camps. They are equated with filth, impurity, and immorality. Hate speech fills the propaganda of official radio, newspapers, and speeches.

Some examples;

Trump Referred To Immigrants As Vermin, Saying They Will "Infest Our Country"

Katie Hopkins' migrant 'cockroaches' column resembles pro-genocide propaganda

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/katie-hopkins-migrant-cockroaches-column-resembles-pro-genocide-propaganda-says-the-un-10201959.html

In the environment that led to creation of the Third Reich in Germany, Polish people were seen as "an East European species of cockroach", while Jews were rats. When Hutu extremists used radio propaganda to incite violence against the Tutsis during the Rwandan Genocide, they called on people to “weed out the cockroaches.”

Trump ramps up rhetoric: Dems want 'illegal immigrants' to 'infest our country'

In a morning tweet, Trump used language evoking images of pests, not human beings, when describing migrants approaching the US border.

BJP chief slammed for calling Bangladeshi migrants 'termites'

https://twitter.com/reecejhawaii/status/996864200583467008

A lot of folk agreed with Trumps description of immigrants ... A lot of folk agree with Hopkins description of migrants ... A lot of folk agreed to the Bangladeshi termite line ... Seems like a lot of folk , you and Borey included agree with Millers terrorist line ... Funny old world

As for Bangladesh;

Andrew Stroehlein, European media director at the US-based Human Rights Watch, said Shah's statement was "disturbing" and reminded of a "path to genocide".

"The president of India's ruling party crosses a disturbing and well-known line. The path to genocide and other mass atrocity crimes is always first paved by powerful politicians using dehumanising language of "termites", "cockroaches" or "vermin"," Stroehlein said on Twitter.

Seems like a lot of folk , you and Borey included agree with Millers terrorist line ... Funny old world

What "terrorist line"? Be sure you fully understand the definition of 'dehumanisation' when you reply.

Can you source any msm reports where Jeremy Corbyn has used the terms 'vermin', 'rats', 'dogs' and 'cockroaches' when discussing migrants? I can't.....not even one.

As explained previously, terms of that nature are specifically intended to dehumanise people by referring to them as animals. Read the sub-section on Genocide Watch headed Dehumanisation. It should only take you a couple of minutes but then you might come away with a clearer understanding.

In answer to your last question, if you knew the term 'terrorist' didn't equate to dehumanising, then why include it in a post about the aforementioned subject?

The rest of your post is littered with the usual mumbo jumbo going off at all sorts of tangents so doesn't make any sense whatsoever..

BJP chief slammed for calling Bangladeshi migrants 'termites'

A lot of folk agreed with Trumps description of immigrants ... A lot of folk agree with Hopkins description of migrants ... A lot of folk agreed to the Bangladeshi termite line ... Seems like a lot of folk , you and Borey included agree with Millers terrorist line ... Funny old world

As for Bangladesh;

Corbyns a career politician POTUS Trump isnt so I doubt very much if hes said any of those things publicly ... Hes never in public[/b] said hes an IRA supporter but its obvious he is and I dont believe hes ever said publicly hes an anti-Semite but he clearly is ...

So pure conjecture based on nothing other than your political leaning is now enough to 'convict'? Wow! You openly 'doubt very much' and 'don't believe'....but that's enough for you. I just hope you never do jury service as you'd ignore the evidence and send an innocent person to the slammer if they 'looked' left wing!

We are now clear JC has not dehumanised though we both knew that in the first place. Can't say the same for your potus pal though calling people "animals" but refreshing to see you stating he's not a politician....something many, including Americans, would agree with on that point! (lol)

No no ... We aren't clear that Corbyn hasn't publicly dehumanised anyone ... I said I doubt he has ... Not the same now is it ??? ... Funny you mention sending an innocent person to the slammer because you were judge and jury over the POTUS Trump/Story Daniels saga if I remember correctly and look how thats panned out ... Chuckle

Your taking your role as the forums biggest member way too seriously ... Lets be straight though anyone who is an anti-Semite and who hates Jews I would assume takes great pleasure in the way Jews were treated during the war and that as we know was the great act of dehumanising the world has ever seen ... By the way the things your saying about POTUS Trump myself and millions more agree with how he describes certain folk just as I agree with how Salvini describes certain types ... Love it

Talking of dehumanizing ... Maybe attacking Jewish women one a 70 year old thrown to the floor and kicked outside a Labour event called Corbyn , anti-Semitism and justice for Palestine could be classed that way ... Maybe she just fell ... Another day in Corbyn world where through him and his party anti-Semitic attacks carry on rising and a rising

No that's assault, not dehumanising. The former is physical whilst the latter is psychological.

Sharon Klaff was the woman allegedly assaulted, a known anti-Palestinian extremist, Trump supporter and member of an anti-Palestinian group with ties to far right anti-Muslim and pro-Israeli extremist group Britain First.

Ms Klaff is also founder advocacy group Campaign4Truth which uses social media to promote it's ideology where some postings spew nothing but bile and hatred. She claims anti-Israel activists in the UK have been indoctrinating children by rewriting Jewish lore as Palestinian, 'turning David to Daud, Moses to Musa.' If that isn't fanning the flame of Islamophobia then i don't know what is.

Klaff obviously thinks this is the way forward.

Talking of dehumanizing ... Maybe attacking Jewish women one a 70 year old thrown to the floor and kicked outside a Labour event called Corbyn , anti-Semitism and justice for Palestine could be classed that way ...

Wiki is a wonderful tool isn't it ... Notice through all those words you haven't condemned the violence which happened at a Labour gathering towards an elderly lady ... Can you wiki the details of the second lady victim of those Labour anti-Semitic yobs

The only reports are an online Israeli site and Daily Mail (no surprises there then). The 'details' of the second lady who was not assaulted are in your link. Don't you read your own links now? No i don't condone violence of any kind hence the reason i cannot condone the violence you support toward Palestinians.

A pro-Israeli activist with strong links to Britain First, a party of far right extremist hotheads whom Trump foolishly retweeted Islamophobic posts, is a recipe for trouble. But for you it seems more of a match made in heaven. You'd get on well sharing your hatred with people like Klaff and co.

Well i gave you the opportunity to quote an example before but unsurprisingly you were unable to find one single case so until you can, yes we are very clear Jeremy Corbyn hasn't publicly dehumanised anyone.

Thinking someone might have done is not the same as knowing someone has, like we know Trump has.

Why are you going off on one about what POTUS Trump tweeted ??? and what does this elderly ladies pro-israel stance and possible Britain First connections have to do with her being violently assaulted at a Labour meeting ??? ... Your making excuses for her being kicked in the head , a 70 year old woman ... Your an utter disgrace and I hope your family never get to see what you defend ... Yuk
