Did you read the links *-)

Other countries, including Australia and New Zealand, ordered 14-day isolation periods for visitors as early as March.

Did it stop them getting Chinky Flu? :-| ...........Nope *-) ........

No......but what they did do was contain and control resulting in 97 deaths in Australia, 21 in NZ, and 10 in Iceland, where UK not only allowed it to spiral ooc unchecked, government ignored the WHO directive grade level of Covid-19 as a high consequence infectious disease and actually downgraded it in early March. Now, you tell me for what reason and why any right thinking government would downgrade the category level of the most serious pandemic the world has witnessed in the past century?

The virus is called Coronavirus or Covid-19.

It would appear to me.....that it is they WHO got it wrong......assuming they have?

Typically you've avoided answering the question and just posted nonsense and your assumption indicates you even doubt your own conjecture! In January UK gov followed the advice of WHO designating Covid-19 HCID, as did every other countries government....so explain why in early March government downgraded it taking it off the HCID list when it was running rampant?

Dunno ;-) ........Ask the Government experts :-| ...........

Government 'experts' will say whatever Cummings/Johnson tells them to say.

They needed to cover their backs as they already knew they had failed to adequately stockpile PPE as advised in their own pandemic preparedness strategy or replaced/tested out of date stock as advised by manufacturers.

Would Labour not rely on the advice of government experts? :-| ........

Did Spain, Italy or even Germany not have problems with lack of PPE? ;-) ........

This has been widely reported and linked to on here but you prefer to bury your head and hope it will go away....it won't.

The rest of your post is just more of your usual deflection to avoid admitting UK government handled the pandemic badly from the outset. Remember you didn't trust Johnson to be PM and even made a thread saying so!

Stop ignoring the naked truth Bullet 8-) .........

Then stop hiding behind bluster, Dave. The point is not whether other countries have had difficulty obtaining appropriate PPE - all have. It is clear that the UK reserve stocks of PPE were deficient at the outset of the pandemic, and equally clear that the stocks were deliberately run down before Johnson's time as part of the austerity measures. That is a matter of record.

But, the slow response of the UK government is much more widespread than a shortage of PPE. There is the little matter of ventilators as well, plus the stop-start confusion over testing and tracking - apparently due to the requisite reagents having also been run down so that widespread testing was impractical. That is why your claims of Boris-bashing are so daft. All Boris has done is stumble into a midden dug by his predecessor governments since 2010. I'll let you work out who the relevant Prime, and Health, ministers were while that was going on.

But the point, the real point, is that we had commissioned reports into the likelihood of a pandemic, and how to counter it, albeit an influenza pandemic, from as far back as 2011. The UK Influenza Pandemic Preparedness Strategy (revised in 2014). This established the equipment types and levels, and the control measures, to be stockpiled and adopted, against such an event. The stockpiles were implemented, but later allowed to be run down under the austerity savings, on the now discredited basis that it could be obtained as and when needed. Penny wise, pound foolish decision making on a truly monumental scale.

Due to those shortages, when Mother Hubbard went to her cupboard she found it bare. Tough on Boris, because it was his predecessors in government that had raided the cupboard to save money, and had not authorised its replenishment, and it seems he hadn't know of these shortages when the pandemic broke out.

Who to blame? Difficult! :-D Cue lots of confident initial statements about our state of preparedness, cue later, and difficult to understand, changes of tack, and statements about shortages and poor delivery responses. Effectively, he's been totally shafted by Cameron, Osborne, Lansley, and Hunt, plus May, Hammond, Hunt and Javid. Ouch!

That is the explanation for the slow response and the mixed messaging. This fledgling government has been put in a politically invidious position because their problems were created, unwittingly and unthinkingly, by their own political colleagues. I really, really, feel for them. They are running around like headless chickens, trying to counter a problem they could not possibly have foreseen, presumably secure in the belief that the necessary equipment would be available in the unlikely event that it might be needed, all happily focusing on Brexit, when WHAM!

Events, Dear Boy, Events!

Because they like us already had it!........ Courtesy of your Communist chums who tried to cover up their virus >:-( ..........and folk like you and Bullet refuse to condem them 8-) ........

Your hypocrisy is staggering >:-) ..........

I think the number of deaths in New Zealand is 21 and Australia 93 or something. Smaller populations but its still a fraction of here. That New Zealand PM. If only we could import her to get rid of the Johnson Virus.

I bet you are one of these people that if your house flooded you would not bother to turn off the water supply and instead just sit there staring at the increasing puddle of water at your feet thinking it will eventually stop.

Not only smaller populations but large land masses ideal for social distancing ;-) ..........

Considering how overcrowded the UK is when compared to Spain :-| .........

We seem to be doing as well as can be expected......... Which most folk without a axe to grind appear to agree...... according to the polls :D .........

If you look at Australia most people live in cities and towns around the coast. The vast wilderness of the outback interior is mainly uninhabited. New Zealand is much smaller but as with both a small population but there are plenty of large cities in both.

Doing as well as can be expected? Here is an interesting timeline of events in the UK and how Johnson and our government responded compared to other countries. You need to scroll down and keep scrolling.

Johnson isnt Churchill, he's Chamberlain.

https://appeasement.org/?fbclid=IwAR15gWM2sl_TdyxqoIw0zu_HpoQrfPgutVPMysgHPmv5TADwmncOguOoSwY

I hate to point out the bleeding obvious *-) ............

New Zealand has a population of just 4,816,089.......London alone has a population of 8,173,941. :-| ........

A country the same size as the UK with a population half the size of London? ;-) ........

Its pretty obvious why New Zealand was able to keep their infection rates so low is it not? 8-) .......

As for your lefty sh*te site >:-) ...........Keep it up........they seem to be doing wonders for Boris B-) .......

Ok then so lets take the population of Sydney. Its not quite as big as London. about 5 million and some change. London is 8 million and some change. Number of deaths in London I think is about 18000 now. The whole of Australia including Sydney is less than 100.

Then there is Wellington in New Zealand. Its a big city but only about half the size of Manchester. Manchester is reported to have had north of 1400 deaths, the entire country of New Zealand 21.

Whys that then?

Ok then so lets take the population of Sydney. Its not quite as big as London. about 5 million and some change. London is 8 million and some change. Number of deaths in London I think is about 18000 now. The whole of Australia including Sydney is less than 100.

Yes lets ;-) .........

The most relevant factor in a pandemic is overcrowding :-| ........

Sydney's average population density is.........2,800 per square kilometer

London's average population density is.........13,600 per square mile

Can you spot the difference? (?) ..........

Ha Ha ha! nice try. Firstly you need to compare the whole of London and the square km figure is not 13,600 but just over 4000. Then consider cities like Melbourne. Population density 19000 per square KM. What about Hong Kong? 25000 per sq km. Total deaths 4 according to Google.

So once again. Why?

3) I assumed governments business support funds were solely for that purpose....not frittering away on personal pleasure trinkets. So we can add misappropriation of tax payers money to your family name now. You should be ashamed.

4) Never heard of her.

Labour are not in government. The party you voted for has governed the past 10 years and prior to that time PPE stocks were kept up to date so what i referenced occurred under this watch.....not Labour.

I've changed my mind......Seeing as Johnson's only had any real power since December ;-) .........

He's managed to prevent our NHS from being overwhelmed like they were in Spain & Italy B-) ......

He has also put in place a buisness support programe that is amongst the best in the world :-> ......

Given the situation.....he's doing a terrific job......and judging by the polls......the voting public think so too >:-) ..........

Which must annoy the hell out of you Losers (lol) ........

1) We've noticed that as you do so often. From anointing Theresa May as "Sainted" to now giving BJ BJ's. *-)

2) Discharging patients early from hospital to free up bed space is not the way to go.

3) You mean the funding your brother intends to buy a new caravan with?

4) Such a "terrific job" he caught the virus himself after ignoring advice.

1.........I try my best :D .......

Why?

Sneaky.......So you are now comparing Greater London with Sydney ;-) .........

Take a look on Google maps and see if you can spot the difference :D .........

I dont need to look at Google Maps. Your population density concentrated on central London so was sneaky but lets leave London and Sydney to one side if its confusing. What about Melbourne and Hong Kong? What about Wellington in new Zealand and Manchester? Melbourne is very densely populated yet the death rate total in the whole of Australia is less than a hundred. Here its probably north of 50000 now. Why is that then?

2) Well you show me evidence they did instead of making wild assumptions based on your usual conjecture and typically, zero links to back up your nonsense.

3) Sorry but that is not the purpose of business loan plans. If your brother wants a new caravan then he should pay for it himself from his own income and not via a government business loan.

4) I just think you need to look at the full context rather than the narrow view you put it in to suit your agenda. You don't understand satire but i suspect the real reason for your dislike of her is not so much what she said, but the fact she isn't a member of the Brexit cult.

We will get there in the end. Australia has a large population of people of Chinese origin. 5.6% compared to 0.7% in the UK. The number of Chinese visitors to Australia per year is nearly four times that of ours at 1.4 mllion.

Australia also has people flying in from many other countries as do we. So lets try again. Why do you think they have such a tiny death rate compared to us. Its not cramped housing, its not because they have less Chinese *-) than us. See if you can figure it out on your own without the help of an adult.

Australia also has people flying in from many other countries as do we. So lets try again. Why do you think they have such a tiny death rate compared to us. Its not cramped housing, its not because they have less Chinese *-) than us. See if you can figure it out on your own without the help of an adult.

Your point is what? ;-) ...........

That Australia has managed better than the vast majority of European countries?.........Or just the UK? *-) .........

I reckon we all know the answer to that :-| ........

First, that Australia has managed better on a per-capita basis than almost all European countries - which is good for Australia.

Second, that it has also managed better on a per-capita basis than the UK - which is bad for the UK.

So, question: why has the UK not managed as well as the best, rather than being among the worst?

Selectively comparing our national performance with the performance of other's who have done relatively poorly doesn't alter our relative performance. It merely narrows the field so as to removes the best from consideration. It is foolish, so why do that? It is merely the equivalent of a child standing in the middle of a room, shutting its eyes, and saying "you can't see me"!

If it wasn't the China Virus death numbers it would be something else the anti-Tory brigade would hit on ... Their fake concern is what upsets my stomach ... Grenfell was similar , Brexit food and drug shortages , Brexit job losses etc etc ... Its a lose-lose situation now and always with the squad where the Tories are concerned ... Blind hatred disguised as concern , sickening

It appears to me that all the countries in Australasia have had fewer deaths than Europe ;-) ........

I would imagine it has much to do with them being sparsely populated when compared to European countries as management :-| .......

A fact that doesn't appear to register with our Boris Bashers *-) .......

Which is strange considering we are dealing with a virus that obviously thrives in overcrowded cities *-) ......
