Ninian
As my van has a large overhang, I was thinking of fitting the above but there seems to be more caravan steadies available than m/home. Other that the leg coming down the opposite way is there any other difference that I'm missing or does it matter. Thanks.
Keithl
We've got them on our AT Cheyenne and never use them! So two questions, first do you actually need them, and second is there anywhere to mount them? Keith.
Ninian
Hi Keith, With the large overhang the van would move in the wind, as well when you're walking about in it you can feel the movement at times. I thought I could mount them to the sub frame below the floor which seems quite strong. Its not as though I'm looking to support the van its just to stop the movement. tonyishuk
If you use the forum search facility (Search our Forums) on the tab above ). Using the word “”steadies”” and choose date limit for “”all posts “”. There is quite a bit of info by previous contributors. My Rapido has french engineering drop down stabilisers, clunky but work and stop rocking. The main advantage of using them is that the satellite signal is better / more stable in some instances. John Allen
We had rear steadies factory fitted on our new Auto-Trail Apache 700 as we use the bed at the back rather than the overcab. As well as the van not rocking so much in high winds it also doesn't rock so much during the non-sleep bed times if you know what I mean. (occaisionaly that date on the calender coincides with when we are away in the van) John
Derek Uzzell
The corner steadies likely to be simplest to fit are the type advertised here https://www.olearymotorhomes.co.uk/motorhome-corner-steadies-stabilisers-long-model-1307-p.asp These earlier discussions may be of interest https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Caravan-stabilisers-on-motorhome-/48937/ https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Hints-and-Tips/Rear-Steadies/40014/ (Some of the links may be out-of-date and/or no longer work.) firedecisions
When I brought my previous motorhome, I had a set of lightweight axel stands made up on blocks and used these when we were staying any length of time in one spot as my wife found the rear bathroom rocked too much ( Elddis 175). Just brought a new Auto Sleeper that comes fitted with 2 rear corner steadies, but picked it up the day before lockdown so haven't been able to try it out
