Why don't you start a new thread instead of trying to change the subject of this one?

Because he's desperately tried to derail this thread by hijacking it so just ignore the troll.

The government says "its time to move on". We need to forget all about it and focus on whats important. Seems to me they have worked harder in three days to save one mans job than they have in three months to protect our front line NHS and care home workers. Well Dominic did say the Tories never gave a sh1t about them or people like him (got that last bit wrong huh?). Topsy Turvy world innit?

It's a shame there's no PMQ's this week. I would have looked forward to that! But if he thinks this will go away, he's wrong.

replacing the 20,000 police that the last lot got rid of ,is a hopeful sign.

Well it would have been if they hadn't degraded respect for the police by telling them to fine us for things they are doing themselves.

That's one of the reasons I said the handling of COVID isn't going too well - but that is not a clue to future policies.

:-|

You're right Malc though with Johnson backing Cummings saying he was 'following instinct' has left police no longer able to enforce any form of lockdown rules. Quite where it leaves those fined is another matter but i won't be in the least surprised to see legal action from some.

His only future policy is "Brexit means Brexit" yadda yadda and whatever other silly mantra Cummings tells him to parrot. :-|

Best piece I have read on the subject so far

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/may/26/dominic-cummings-boris-johnson-terrified-sack-him

' Johnson: career liar, hollowed out by narcissism, who not even his friends would joke was motivated by public service.'

An excellent piece. Summed up perfectly.

This bit is interesting. "The thing about playing to angry mobs is that eventually they get angry with you. They came for Robespierre in the end, too."

Perhaps the people are waking up to the fact they elected a moron one trick pony now made only too obvious by the total mess he has made of this entire crisis and that he is unprepared to take action against his key advisor which he clearly cannot survive without despite the huge majority of the public wishing him to do so.

Some excellent embedded links also in that article including The Spectator article (posted in full on this thread as it's paywalled) his wife wrote after returning from their Durham jaunt....yet never mentioned one word about it, can't think why! ;-) She even had the audacity to retweet Johnsons "Stay at Home" message the same day Cummings was "testing his eyesight" on a trip out to Barnard Castle 260 miles away from their home.

Explained in the op and link whioch you obviously have not read. Further to that, Durham police have now been formally asked to investigate Dominic Cummings over his lockdown trip. That was also posted and linked way back in the thread but you don't read.

I think it is perfectly acceptable to query why other MPs who have flouted Coronavirus rules should not also be required to consider resignation or be sacked, particularly when some of the reasons are even more flagrant that that offered by Cummings. This whole issue is about there not being one rule for the masses and another for people in high office. On that basis there should not be one punishment for Cummings and none for others. Although this thread is primarily about Cummings I do not believe this should prevent anyone bringing in similar cases as a contrast and to broaden the discussion. That is assuming this is intended to be a sensible debate.

I take on board what you say Don and yes we know other MP's have flouted the rules one of whom was Robert Jenrick which Antony doesn't mention because he's a Tory MP. We also know Scotlands chief MO, Dr Catherine Calderwood, and SAGE member Prof Neil Ferguson resigned due to breaking lockdown though the latter never even left his home. Cummings case has been markedly different from all the others in that he not only helped draw up the lockdown rules he then broke (Stay at Home), he wove a carefully crafted web of deceit from the get go. It's what Cummings specialises in.

Even the rambling article his wife wrote (copied in this thread) in The Spectator after they returned home from their Durham jaunt makes absolutely zero mention of driving up to Durham and back. In fact it implies they spent their time 'recovering' at their London home! It seems misleading the gullible comes naturally to both the Cummings and the entire story has been full of more holes than a sieve. That she also retweeted Johnsons 'stay at home' message on the very same day she and Cummings were swanning around Barnard castle, is tantamount to sticking two fingers up to joe public and laughing in everyones faces. From reading posts on various other forums and outbursts on s/m, it's all too clear those defending the indefensible went into total meltdown as soon as the Cummings story broke, driven by fear of possibly losing their Brexit chief architect and no other reason.

So imo, this particular case is more than worthy of discussion within it's own thread and reports from right wing media which have now swung entirely against Cummings/Johnson, have shown that. Clouding the thread issue by 'fogging' with whataboutery is simply an attempt by one particular fm to derail and disrupt in the hope of shutting the primary debate down.

So you're interpretting the rules to suit yourself? ;-) ...........

Gawd this is hard work

How many more times

Perhaps if you did less talking and more listening it might help you

Or at least read the links

https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/police-called-after-large-motorhome-4132383?amp_js_v=0.1&usqp=mq331AQFKAGwASA=&utm_source=taboola&utm_medium=display&utm_campaign=exchange

The lads in the motorhome were not breaking lockdown regulations, as confirmed by D&C police.

You broke the law when you left Scotland - don't bother to reply with the usual drivel.

Never forget Stephen Kinnock and Tahir Ali

No, we cant! Will it make you feel better if we condemn their actions as well? Kinnock is a bit of a knob anyway.

I didn't realise that Kinnock and Ali were also involved in the government who set down rules for other people, and then ignored them themselves, same as Cummings !

Hypocrites like that should definitely be condemned.

I said way back in the thread when he first started banging on about them trying to derail the thread that imo they were wrong. Has Antony condemned the action of Cummings? NO...never. Will he condemn the action of Robert Jenrick MP? NO....never.

You know how it goes Malc......as Johnson then Hancock kept reminding the proles, "we are ALL in this together". ;-)

On another note, two people who travelled from London to Peterlee near Durham have been fined. They should elect to go to court to tell them they were using their "instinct" or "testing their eyesight for driving". :-|
