Well for starters, Autotrail are owned by Trigano, so they are now French..

(I thought Autosleepers went through a spell when they were own by a foreign "Group"? but I think they are now back as a stand alone company?)

The likes of Wildax and Romahome are only low volume producers anyway.

Are they not built here? ;-) .........

Is Labour not the biggest part of a Motorhome build cost? :D .......

So a win win for vans built in the UK B-) .......

Are you really sure?

As far as I know the market, in the vast majority of cases the walls are already built by external suppliers on customized specs.

Ditto the thermoformed toilet boxes.

Furnitures comes from who knows where (aka IKEA).

Sure, sure, sure that all you need to put together a generic Swift or Elddis is produced in the Kingdom?

The necessary manpower is almost always limited to assembly all this stuff.

There are those who estimate it in about ten man hours.

I am skeptical, I favor twenty. I'm pessimistic, thirty. I exaggerate, forty.

Don't be daft. The major cost of any mh build is the base chassis or van type used. Being imported those alone will now cost at least 10% more so Brit mh'ers can look forward to much higher prices.

Not at all. In fact i'm happy for Sunderland workers whose jobs were under threat and you should be congratulating the Trade Unions for doing what your government were unable to do. Not sure how many vehicles they expect to export at tariffed prices though and the mh home market is extremely small.

Just a pity 7000 Swindon workers and 1,800 at Bridgend have lost theirs which neither you or your boyfriend gave a flying fig about.

It seems to me the 'grudging acceptance' is coming from you realising it took a Trades Union to achieve what your Tory government failed at. Unlike you i never voted to put thousands of people out of work then gloat about it because it didn't affect me.

Just an example. Lancia left the British market many years ago because it made no sense to produce right-side-drive cars for such a small volume of business. Maybe others will.

You can obviously continue to drive Nissan.

Incorrect ;-) ......

Lancia left the market because they dissolved (Rusted) in UK weather >:-) ......

You are right.

They were made to counterbalance the poor reliability of British cars and revenge us.

Think that when we complained about the constant breakdowns of English cars, the dealer replied that we had been unlucky:

your car had been finished late in the afternoon, at tea time.

Got it. All unfortunate ...

... that's why we see few of them.

Max

P.S. This is however motorhomes and caravans forum.

Of course, Burstner, Hymer, Rapido, CI, N + B, etc. will also cost 10% more. Just 10K£ gift for a 100K£ motorhome.

Thank you sir.

Yep ;-) ..........

Which will mean British manufacturers will have a cost advantage B-) ........

Another Brexit bonus :D ..........

But British motorhomes are rubbish and overpriced.
