Barryd999
Ours is about knackered. I was thinking of replacing the seals, taking the rest of it apart and giving it a thorough clean up but I am not sure I can face it (lol) or if its about time it was just replaced anyway. I think ours will be the left hand version as in this link as when sat on the loo the cassette slides in from your left. Link to PrimaLeisure Anyone used these or is there a better source? The only difference I can see is that one has wheels and mine does not. (Edited to shorten link to correct page width error)
Don636
How old is your cassette? Ours is 7 years old and looks like new inside although I remove the top inspection hatch after every trip and throughly clean the inside. Even when I open it up there is never anything in there - apart from maybe a few tiny bits of crud stuck in the top mechanism. Regular thorough cleaning is the key rather than leaving it for years. Barryd999
Well if its the original 25 years!! Ive had the van 13 years and for most of that it spent at least six months of the year being used so its not done bad really. :D I seem to have messed up the thread with that long url but cant edit it now. May a MOD could do it and replace it with this https://tinyurl.com/8z43ykaz (Original post edited - Keithl)

This is confirmed in these links https://www.leisureshopdirect.com/technical/how-do-i-tell-if-my-cassette-toilet-is-left-or-right-handed https://www.caravansplus.com.au/guides/identifying-your-thetford-cassette-toilet-model-a-79.html The left or right cassette orientation is also shown on the Fresh-Up kit’s box (image attached below) All Fresh-Up kit cassettes have wheels. This £99.00 advert suggests that delivery would be free. https://www.camping-intl.com/products/accessories/bathroom-toilets-fluid/thetford-fresh-up-set-c2-c3-c4/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzbjZsYyA8gIVCrTtCh0qgwCPEAQYAyABEgIr3fD_BwE Fully dismantling the cassette of a C2/3/4 toilet is a challenging task (particularly where the original variants are concerned). This forum thread referred https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Thetford-C2-Vent-seal-and-float-HELP-/9826/ and the final (2018) posting included the following ink to repair instructions https://ourtour.co.uk/home/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Sanitation-Repair-instructions.pdf
Barryd999
Thats really helpful thanks Derek. So mine is the C2/3/4 left hand model which is what I thought and the wheels were just an addition later on. Dont think ill bother trying to overhaul it myself even though I do already have a spare seal. May as well just get another one.
mtravel
Take a look to one of these: https://www.thetford-europe.com/gb/products/toilets/cassette-toilets https://www.caravansplus.com.au/guides/identifying-your-thetford-cassette-toilet-model-a-79.html (funny prices, overhere a C200 roughly costs 90€). Thetford says that C200 series is not longer available but for sure I see them on sale in many shops. They probably mean that the whole system is obsolete and out of production but spares (as well as the cassette) are still available.
Roryboy
Barryd999 - 2021-07-26 8:00 AM Dont think ill bother trying to overhaul it myself even though I do already have a spare seal. May as well just get another one. I had leaking problems with mine - stripped it down (Reminder to self - must buy rubber gloves next time !), cleaned it out, replaced seals and it was put back together again correctly. It still leaked a bit. Bought a new Cassette and, touch wood, it's been okay on our last two holidays. I'm a tight git but the outlay was worthwhile. After hearing what you claim you've been earning recently surely a few bob or two won't ruin you ......
Derek Uzzell
Thetford offers a number of Fresh-Up kits https://www.thetford-europe.com/gb/products/accessories/cassette-toilet-accessoires The Toilet fresh-up Set is available for Cassette Toilets: - C200 series - C220 series - C250 / C260 series - C400 series, for left and right models - C500 series - C2 / C3 / C4 series, for left and right models Although Thetford no longer markets the C200 range, (as Max says) new C200 toilets are still being advertised for sale. Cassettes that have their operating mechanism on a large unscrewable base that fits into the cassette’s top (as in Roryboy’s photo of a C260 range cassette) are fairly easy to fully dismantle and the complete mechanism itself can be bought as a spare. But getting at the guts of a C2/3/4 or C200 cassette involves the dexterity of a vet delivering a breech-birth calf.
Barryd999
Seeing as Roryboy has suggested I have plenty of money ive just ordered a new one form that Camping international link you provided Derek. I called them first to make sure they were in stock and they are so I should have it in a couple of days. I wonder why they call them "Fresh up kits" though. To me it suggests its not the full cassette but reading the reviews and asking I think it is. Just call it what it is. A new toilet cassette. With any luck I can carry it on the scooter now without worrying about it ending up down my leg or like last summer when I came off in a soggy field and the blade flew out. Lets just say it got Messy. (lol)

It's called a 'fresh up kit' because it also includes a new seat and cover! I'm sure they also used to include some chemicals but obviously do not any longer. Keith. Derek Uzzell
That’s indeed the case for the chemicals. It’s mentioned here https://www.obicampingandleisure.co.uk/thetford-toilet-fresh-up-set-c400/ (Thetford “Rejuvenate” kit would perhaps be better, but that name’s registered to another company.) I know that the Gold&Silver Pawn Shop owners are always looking for items autographed by famous people. If they belonged to some rock or popstar they are considered the "Holy Grail". If you introduce yourself and explain that your object can be compared to the famous artwork "merda d'artista" you can probably ask for a US$ five-zeroes amount. vindiboy
https://ibb.co/album/ypvZ7F I have recently had the pleasure NOT of renewing the flush in our Thetford toilet, it was easier to remove the complete toilet from the van than work on it in situ, only 4 screws hold the toilet in place, having it all in bits enabled me to give it a thorough clean too. Derek Uzzell
There are installation instructions for several Thetford cassette-toilet ranges on this link https://www.yumpu.com/en/document/read/3497857/132852-622-1252314298501-5-c2c4c200c400-c250-int-manualspdf As far as I can make out, removal of swivel-bowl toilets should - in principle at least - be relatively straightforward, with just 4 screws holding the toilet’s base to the floor and the rear of the toilet abutting against a single wall. Removing a Thetford bench-style toilet seems much more challenging, particularly as each end of the toilet is likely to abut a wall.
