Bjorn Toulouse Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 The wee motorhome had a fight with a bunch of slates on Lismore. Dose anyone know if they used the same tail lights? I'm thinking of the Hella Caraluna II. Would these fit?
Bjorn Toulouse Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 just went out and took a snap, ignore the bodge to get us home!
Keithl Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Yes that is a Caraluna II. Just make sure you get the MH version with round reflectors and NOT the caravan version with triangular reflectors!
Bjorn Toulouse Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 Fantastic I will order one up just now, this will probably sort the intermittent brake light failure, the amount of times I have had to get the wet and dry out to clean the terminals! As always this place is a font of motorhome knowledge.
onecal Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Yes correct , just as Keith advised be careful not to get the triangular ones Hopefully it may also cure your damp connections Regards
onecal Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Hi Rub a little Red Rubber grease around the light seals It should help prevent water ingress in the future Regards
Robinhood Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 A word of historic warning. The Caraluna has (or at least had) small rectangular drain holes located in the bottom of the moulding. Given that they are essentially "handed" (the unit with the fog light should be on the O/S, which is different for LHD and RHD) Hella have different model numbers for the two markets. Given that they are horizontally symmetrical, it is entirely possible to turn a LHD O/S part upside down and mount it on the RHD O/S, but guess where the drain holes are then 🤔. How do I know this? Courtesy of Monsieur Rapido, who it would seem couldn't be bothered to order different part numbers for the UK market, resulting in me carrying around a swimming bath in the rear lights. UK ordered parts should be correctly configured, but I'd still check the drain holes and their orientation.
onecal Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Hi Good point, an error that was frequent a few years ago. Yes they still have drain holes for the bottom and you are correct can of course be fitted incorrectly if the units are for for RHD and not LHD resulting on the drain hole now on top of the lights The fog light was always the giveaway with the flooded lights Regards
