Multiple faults on a motorhome - advice needed

Inevitable isn't it.

A motorhome is probably the most complex consumer durable there is, built to save weight and cost, and usually run by amateurs who don't know what they are doing.

Faults are inevitable.  What you should accept is debateable.

But the OP asked where to go for advice.  I would say places like Citizens Advice - but they are overwhelmed with destitute / desperate people with far more urgent and serious problems than a few faults on a secondhand motorhome.

So you could try asking here.

But we need to know a lot more about them.

And be aware that some people may agree with you when you are in the wrong because they think its what you want to hear.

It all very much depends on the supplier.
money of our new Motorhomes had 32 faults, but the service from both LeVoyageur and Hayes leisure was superb and dealt with all the problems quickly. ( they paid all our costs, hotel and a car while did carried out repairs at the factory in France ) it shouldn’t have been the case but the way everyone took notice, didn’t try to fob me off made life much nicer.
have you spoken with the company and are they willing to carry out repairs quickly to your expectations.
and yes faults are part of motorhoming.

So I thought. We are on our second Cathago, first one being a Malibu PVC and our present one being a Super light weight

no faults in 7 years of ownership and with the new Malibu PVC 640 with loads of toys due for delivery soon I’m sure and hope it will be just as good.
this can be put down to manufacture and Goeuropean doing a superb job of accessories fitted and PDI by very competent staff.
🤞🏻the company will sort your problems.

Hi

where is the best place to go for advice regarding multiple faults on a motorhome bought from a dealer when it was 2 years old and has had problems from the start

Some background would be useful

1: Are you the owner of the problematic motorhome and - if so - how long has it been since you bought it from the dealer?

2: What is the motorhome's make and model, and what was its mileage when it was sold and what is its mileage now?

3: Did the vehicle have a warranty when the dealer sold it and - if so - what was that warranty's duration and its terms and conditions?

4: What are the faults that have occurred since it was bought from the dealer and what did the dealer do to rectify those faults?

5: What do you want to do? Are you prepared to go down the legal route? There are specialised solicitors (example here)

https://stormcatcher.co.uk/automotive-law/campervan-and-motorhome-dispute/

but it can be an expensive approach with no guarantee of success.

Simon,

I notice you haven't logged on to the forum since posting your request for help so are you actually reading the replies to your question? Please let us know we are not all talking amongst ourselves 🙂

Keith.

It's not that uncommon (and not unreasonable) for an identical - or very similar - enquiry to be made on multiple forums.

This can be time-wasting (and occasionally infuriating) if (say) an enquiry were made on the Out&AboutLive forum when it had already been made on (say) the MotorHomeFun forum where it had been discussed at some length and an adequate response provided.

It's something I habitually investigate if I think multiple forum-posting might have happened, and I also check if I can find any evidence of the forum user-name appearing elsewhere. But, in this instance, this enquiry seems to be unique to the O&AL forum, as does usage of the user-name/email-address.

That depends on the quality of the advice and its relevance to the subject matter.

I've grown inured to my time being wasted on internet forums and for my carefully-crafted well-researched advice falling on (apparently) deaf ears, but that doesn't mean I enjoy the experience.

A version of this  posting (by Keithl) on the Warners Show News forum

https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/topic/61843-request-to-posters-in-the-show-news-section/#comment-708376

should perhaps be 'stuck' at the head of every Out&AboutLive forum.

Hi Derek.

It is infuriating when you are trying to help someone out

But as Stevec176 points out the information that is provided may help someone else

Yes they have to be very careful as to the quality of the information provided and care must be taken in applying it

Its great that you do check up and give a heads up and not be wasting other peoples time if really they are not interested

Both yourself and all that give good advice to others  are appreciated

Regards
